What Is Class of Service (CoS)?
Imagine you're at a fancy restaurant, and the waiter comes over to take your order. Your order gets to the top if you're in the VIP section. That means the kitchen will cook your food first and serve it to you before anyone else's order. That's how CoS works, except we're talking about data packets instead of food. So, why do we need CoS? Well, think about all the different types of traffic that flow through your network. You've got email, web browsing, video streaming, voice calls, and more. All these types of traffic have different requirements for bandwidth, latency, and jitter. For example, video streaming requires much bandwidth and low latency.
