What Is ActiveX?
ActiveX is now a part of every modern PC. Without these key components, your PC might be a brick. Keep your PC from getting stuck at the start line when you only need some ActiveX controls! ActiveX controls can control multimedia, display charts, access databases, etc. ActiveX controls integrate seamlessly with your application and can be programmed using Visual Basic, C++, C#, etc. Application developers can extend their applications to allow ActiveX controls within their software. Only use trusted sources to download controls and install them when needed. When installing a control, always uncheck the box that allows it to run whenever you open a new browser window. This will protect you from malicious code installed on the site where you downloaded the control. It can also be installed as standalone software and used on any computer without limitations. Allowing an untrusted ActiveX control to run on your computer could cause it to crash, log your keystrokes, or even steal sensitive information. To set your browser to prompt for approval before an ActiveX control runs on your computer, visit the Settings menu and click Privacy. ActiveX controls require Microsoft Windows, while Java applets can be run on any computer with an installed Java Virtual Machine. ActiveX controls are similar to Java applets but differ in several ways. ActiveX controls allow full access to all of Windows's resources and can be used in any Windows application. When it comes to cross-platform compatibility, Java applets require a Java virtual machine (JVM) to access an entire operating system's resources. Meanwhile, ActiveX, a widely-used format, is often compared to sliced bread in popularity, despite many people not understanding its capabilities. However, it's important to note that ActiveX can give a user the ability to take control of another person's computer. So, it's crucial to be cautious when using it.
