The initiative strengthens Apple’s long-term investment in workforce education and manufacturing capability in the region.
TL;DR
- Apple launched a new Education Hub in India's Bengaluru focused on supplier employee training.
- The hub operates with Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and starts courses in March.
- Apple is expanding technical and professional courses across more than 25 supplier sites in India, starting with Tata Electronics.
- Programs include digital literacy, Swift coding, robotics, automation, and smart manufacturing.
- It's the latest initiative from Apple’s global $50 million Supplier Employee Development Fund.
Apple is deepening its commitment to workforce development in India with the launch of this first of its kinits first Education Hub in the country.
The facility is designed to support employees working across Apple’s supply chain by offering structured learning and technical training programs.
The Education Hub is being developed in collaboration with Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) and will begin offering courses in March. Faculty from MAHE will train supplier instructors, who will then scale the learning programs across larger employee groups at their respective facilities.
Apple positions the hub as a central space where educators and trainers can work directly with supplier employees, starting with foundational programs such as digital literacy and Swift coding for beginners.
“This collaboration brings together Apple’s commitment to its supplier employees and Manipal’s experience in applied education to create meaningful opportunities for growth,” said Lt. Gen. (Dr.) M.D. Venkatesh, vice chancellor at MAHE. “Supplier communities sit at the heart of India’s manufacturing ecosystem, and investing in their skills is more important than ever.”
The model is intended to extend the reach of specialized education while maintaining consistent curriculum delivery.
New Courses Roll Out Across Supplier Facilities
Ahead of this, Apple is also expanding its suite of development courses across more than 25 supplier locations throughout India.
The rollout begins with Tata Electronics and will gradually extend to additional supplier sites.
The new curriculum focuses on skills aligned with modern manufacturing and technology needs. These include digital literacy, Swift coding, robotics, automation technologies, and smart manufacturing practices.
Apple says the effort is part of its global $50 million Supplier Employee Development Fund, which supports education and career growth initiatives across its supply chain.
“The same spirit of innovation that drives our products also guides our commitment to supporting people across our global supply chain. We’re thrilled to expand our technical training courses in India, giving thousands of employees the opportunity to learn valuable new skills and explore new paths for career growth,” said Sarah Chandler, Apple’s VP of Environment and Supply Chain Innovation.
Building On Robotics And Technical Training Programs
Apple noted that it currently offers more than 75 courses for supplier employees in India.
This includes a robotics training program launched in December 2024, which focuses on qualifying factory educators through hands-on learning at robotics labs.
After completing training, these educators adapt the curriculum to suit their facilities and deliver sessions locally. Apple plans to expand this robotics program to more sites in India later this year, following early success.
The company says these technical programs complement broader efforts that also cover professional development, health education, and community resilience initiatives across its global supplier ecosystem.

Focus On Inclusion, Rights Awareness, And Accessibility
In addition to technical skills, Apple continues to invest in rights awareness training in partnership with international organizations. These programs aim to ensure workers across its supply chain are treated with dignity and respect.
Apple is also expanding its Vocational Education for Persons with Disabilities program in India. The initiative, which recently launched with Salcomp, has already benefited more than 18,000 supplier employees globally.
The program works with suppliers to create employment and professional development opportunities for people with disabilities while improving safety, accessibility, and inclusivity practices at supplier facilities.
It builds on Apple’s long-standing partnership with Enable India, a local nonprofit, and reflects the company’s broader approach to inclusive workforce development.
