The reveal came as part of Apple's event week, with the main day set for March 4 from 9 a.m. Eastern Time onwards.
This year's event breaks from its traditional keynote-style livestream. Instead of hosting a single broadcast event, the company is organizing what it calls a “special Apple Experience” for invited media across New York, London, and Shanghai.

The M4-powered iPad Air will be available in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes, offered in blue, purple, starlight, and space gray. Storage configurations include 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB.
Pricing remains unchanged, starting at $599 for the 11-inch Wi-Fi model and $799 for the 13-inch Wi-Fi model.
Wi-Fi plus Cellular variants start at $749 and $949 respectively. Education pricing begins at $549 for the 11-inch model and $749 for the 13-inch version.
Pre-orders open March 4, with availability beginning March 11 across 35 countries and regions, including the United States, Canada, the UK, India, Japan, Australia, Germany, France, China, and the UAE.
iPad Air's M4 Chip And 12GB Memory Drive Major Performance Gains For Creators And Gamers
At the heart of the new iPad Air is Apple’s M4 chip, featuring an 8-core CPU and a 9-core GPU.
Apple says the device is up to 30% faster than the M3 version and up to 2.3 times faster than the M1 model, positioning it as a meaningful upgrade for users handling demanding workflows.
The 9-core GPU supports second-generation hardware-accelerated mesh shading and ray tracing. Apple claims this results in more than four times faster 3D pro rendering with ray tracing compared to the M1-powered iPad Air, improving lighting, reflections and shadows in graphics-heavy tasks and gaming.
Memory has also been expanded. Unified memory now starts at 12GB, a 50% increase over the previous generation, paired with 120GB/s memory bandwidth.
The 16-core Neural Engine is three times faster than that of M1, enabling on-device AI features such as photo subject recognition, text search in images and advanced editing workflows.
The device also features a 12MP front-facing Center Stage camera positioned along the landscape edge, along with landscape stereo speakers. Apple says the 13-inch model offers enhanced audio quality, targeting users who consume or create multimedia content.

iPad Air's Wi-Fi 7, 5G, And iPadOS 26 Expand Connectivity And Multitasking
Connectivity sees a notable upgrade with Apple’s new N1 wireless networking chip, which enables Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread support. Apple says N1 improves performance on 5GHz Wi-Fi networks and enhances reliability for features such as Personal Hotspot and AirDrop.
Cellular models integrate the new Apple-designed C1X modem, delivering up to 50% faster cellular data performance while using up to 30% less modem energy than the M3 version. These models also support 5G, GPS and eSIM for digital plan activation.
On the software side, iPadOS 26 introduces a redesigned interface using Liquid Glass, an updated windowing system for improved multitasking and a new menu bar accessible with a swipe.
The Files app gains enhanced organization tools, folder customization and default app selection for file types. A dedicated Preview app now allows users to sketch, edit and mark up PDFs and images using Apple Pencil or touch.

Apple Pencil Pro And Magic Keyboard Enhance Productivity
Apple is continuing its focus on accessories to extend the iPad Air’s capabilities.
The new iPad Air supports Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil (USB-C). Apple Pencil Pro includes advanced gestures such as squeeze and barrel roll, along with Find My support to locate misplaced devices. The USB-C version is positioned as a value option for note-taking and sketching.
Magic Keyboard remains compatible with both the 11-inch and 13-inch models.
It includes a built-in trackpad, a 14-key function row for quick access to system controls and a machined aluminum hinge with a USB-C charging connector. The keyboard magnetically attaches and uses the Smart Connector for power and data.
