Streaming platforms are increasingly borrowing ideas from social media to help viewers discover content faster. Short-form video feeds have already appeared on apps like Netflix and Disney+, and now Amazon is bringing a similar experience to Prime Video with a new feature called “Clips.”

TL;DR

  • Amazon launches short-form clips feed on prime video.
  • Users can scroll through short videos from movies, shows, and sports before deciding what to watch.
  • The feature is rolling out to select U.S. users on mobile devices, with wider availability expected this summer.

Amazon has announced a TikTok-style short-form video feed for Prime Video that lets users scroll through clips from movies, TV shows, and sports content. The feature is designed to make content discovery quicker and more personalized, especially for mobile users.

“Clips gives customers a whole new way to browse with short, personalized snippets tailored to their interests,” said Prime Video’s director of Global Application Experiences, Brian Griffin, in a press release. “Whether they have a few minutes to scroll or are looking for something to watch when they have more time, entertainment is just a tap away.”

The feature was first tested during the NBA season, where users could scroll through basketball highlights in a vertical feed similar to TikTok videos. Amazon is now expanding the experience to include movies and TV series across Prime Video’s entertainment catalog.

Users can access Clips from the Prime Video mobile home page by opening the Clips carousel. Once inside, they can scroll through personalized videos, watch the full title, save content to a watchlist, rent or buy movies, or share clips with friends. Recommendations will also change based on viewing history and user interests.

The rollout is currently limited to selected users in the United States on iOS, Android, and Fire tablets, with broader availability expected later this summer. Amazon says the feature is part of a wider effort to improve the Prime Video mobile experience, which also includes autoplay trailers, updated layouts, and redesigned viewing controls.
