Overview

When we mention Johnny Depp, most of us remember the intoxicated Captain Jack Sparrow, the gentle Edward Scissorhands or the wacky Willy Wonka. However, we at #TechDogs remember him for his role in "Transcendence" - a movie that deals with emerging technologies and their implications. We mean, it's no secret we love technology!

Will Caster (Johnny Depp) is an Artificial Intelligence expert whose consciousness is uploaded into a quantum computer hours before he dies. This human-machine hybrid makes some groundbreaking discoveries given the unprecedented speed and accuracy of quantum computing. Although the premise may seem farfetched, the potential of quantum computing is truly limitless. As more people (not just movie directors!) are hopping on the quantum bandwagon, it's advantageous to be aware of the latest (quantum) developments.

Presenting - the top 5 Quantum Computing Software of 2022!
TechDogs-"Top 5 Quantum Computing Software Of 2022"-Goodbye Binary! Welcome Qubits!
Quantum Computing - surely you have come across this term! It has become synonymous with futuristic technology that no one genuinely understands - except when they need to build a time machine in a movie (think of the Quantum Realm and Time Heist machine from Marvel Cinematic Universe)!

Well, we're here to tell you quantum computing is real and it is available to all. In fact, we're sure you can run a quantum algorithm on your laptop or PC. All you need is the right tools - that is, Quantum Computing Software!

Without further ado, here are the top 5 Quantum Computing Software of 2022!

Top 5 Quantum Computing Software Of 2022

Quantum computing harnesses quantum physical phenomena to develop new and improved computing techniques. A standard computer bit holds only one value at a time - 0 or 1. Qubits, the building blocks of quantum computing, can be either 1 or 0 or a superposition of both. Sounds interesting, right?

If you too want to leverage quantum computing, here are the top 5 Quantum Computing Software of 2022 – in random order!

Tool 1: Google Quantum AI

Google - it's like that one cool kid in school whom everyone knows and needs no introduction! Google was founded in 1998 and has grown to become one of the most well-known names among global technology firms. No surprise, they are getting their hands dirty with quantum computing - the most cutting-edge technology around!

Google Quantum AI is an essential quantum computing tool for developers because it allows them to operate beyond traditional computing. The existing software is used to create unique quantum algorithms for solving multifaceted real-world issues. The software provides remote access to high-performance quantum computers and simulators within the Google infrastructure.

Furthermore, Google offers Cirq, an open-source platform for programming quantum computers. As it is a Python-based library, it is simple to use, open-source and aids in the optimization of quantum circuits and quantum simulators. Google knows what they’re doing!

Tool 2: ProjectQ

ProjectQ is an open-source software framework for quantum computing started at ETH Zurich, one of the most prestigious science and technology universities worldwide. The program allows developers to execute their quantum programs in Python programming language using robust and intuitive syntax.

ProjectQ is an extremely well-known quantum computing software that provides an open-source architecture for quantum computing algorithms written in Python. The software boasts a modular and customizable compiler for developing quantum programs. Using this compiler, ProjectQ software is able to convert quantum programs to the appropriate type of back-end, whether it's a simulator, a classical computer, or an actual quantum chip!

The team is working to enable the program to support additional hardware platforms in the future. Currently, the framework provides for the simulation of quantum algorithms as well as their execution on actual quantum hardware via a back-end connection to the IBM Quantum Experience cloud service.

Tool 3: Rigetti Forest

Rigetti, founded in 2013, is based in Berkeley, California and develops quantum integrated circuits needed for operating quantum computers. The company also created a cloud platform called Forest that facilitates developers to write quantum algorithms. MIT Technology Review had named the company one of the 50 smartest companies of 2017 - do we need to say more?

Rigetti Forest is a quantum computing platform that operates on the quantum instruction language Quil. The software is aimed at giving developers access to quantum processors to write and test their quantum algorithms. The Rigetti Forest suite also contains an open-source Python library for Quil programs (pyQuil), a library of quantum programs (Grove) and a simulation environment called QVM (Quantum Virtual Machine).

Moreover, the tool combines Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to help quantum developers improve their algorithms. It offers one of the fastest-expanding libraries of quantum computing tools and applications for developers.

Tool 4: Microsoft Quantum SDK

Microsoft needs no introduction - the American multinational technology corporation is known to all. However, here's something you might not have known about Microsoft - in 2017 they announced the release of a new programming language geared towards quantum computing called Q#. That’s right, Microsoft has been in the quantum game for some time now!

The Microsoft Quantum Development Kit is well-known in quantum computing circles for providing countless quantum computing tools required to develop applications and solve complicated problems in quantum computers. The suite includes the quantum-focused programming language Q#, a quantum computing simulator, ready-to-use libraries and much more.

It also provides tools that help execution on large-scale hardware-accelerated computers using resources from Microsoft Azure. The highlight of the Quantum Development Kit is that it integrates well with third-party coding environments like Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code and Jupyter Notebooks.

Tool 5: IBM Quantum Experience

IBM, or Big Blue for the history nerds, is an American global technology firm founded in 1911 and headquartered in New York, with operations in over 171 countries. From being computing pioneers to environmental stewards, IBM has done it all in the world of technology! We mean, IBM received a Best Environmental Excellence Award at the platinum level in 2021 - the only company to do so!

The IBM Quantum Experience enabled IBM to publish an experimental quantum processor on the internet, allowing members of the public to access it. The IBM Quantum Experience is divided into four parts; the first of which is a quantum composer, allowing users to set up quantum gates and design quantum circuits graphically. Then, using a quantum simulator, one may test their configuration before running it on the actual computer. Finally, one can connect to the virtual machine and run their quantum configuration to see the results.

IBM has also released a software API called QISKIT that may be used in conjunction with the IBM Quantum Experience. It is also an open-source software development kit, allowing users more granular control over the process.

Conclusion

As the field of quantum computing evolves, it will become lightning fast, highly reliable and look to replace traditional computing. As quantum computing works on an entirely different mechanism than classical computing, the software for quantum computing is naturally different. Hence, it is worthwhile to be aware of the top tools and software that offer quantum computing facilities without having to invest in one yourself!
