Wipro has strengthened its enterprise artificial intelligence push with the launch of an Applied AI Center of Excellence focused on Claude models from Anthropic.
The new CoE was inaugurated at Wipro’s Bengaluru innovation hub and will operate under the company’s newly formed AI-Native Business & Platforms Unit. Wipro said the initiative is aimed at scaling enterprise AI adoption by embedding Claude models into the Wipro Intelligence stack, including its delivery, functional, and industry platforms.
The move also gives Wipro a dedicated hub for building AI-native platforms and industry-specific solutions. According to the company, the CoE will focus on sectors such as mortgage, healthcare, airlines, manufacturing, and consumer businesses, while also supporting Wipro’s internal AI transformation across finance, HR, and sales functions.
One of the biggest parts of the announcement is Wipro’s plan to certify 10,000 front-line delivery experts on Claude over the next 18 months. The company said this program is designed to build practitioners who can design, deploy, and operate AI-enabled systems in complex enterprise environments.
The CoE will also rely on Wipro’s growing pool of Forward Deployed Engineers trained on Claude models. These engineers are expected to work inside client environments, combining business process knowledge, technology landscape understanding, and hands-on model expertise to integrate AI into workflows and generate measurable business outcomes.

“Wipro is strengthening its enterprise AI leadership with the Applied AI Center of Excellence for Claude models, powered by Anthropic,” said Srini Pallia, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Wipro Limited. “This marks a fundamental shift in how we deliver, and advances our strategy of being consulting-led and AI-powered. By combining the power of Claude models with our deep domain and enterprise expertise, we are driving measurable business outcomes for our clients.”
Pallia added that embedding Forward Deployed Engineers within client environments, while integrating AI across Wipro’s own operations, will help accelerate enterprise-scale adoption with a clear focus on business value.
The timing is notable, as Indian IT services companies are facing pressure from AI-led automation and shifting enterprise technology spending. Reuters reported that investors are increasingly concerned that AI tools could disrupt the labor-intensive business model of India’s $315 billion IT sector.
Reuters also noted that Wipro’s move comes shortly after Tata Consultancy Services announced a partnership with Anthropic on June 11, 2026, to drive enterprise AI scaling. This points to growing competition among India’s major IT services firms to deepen alliances with frontier AI model companies.
Anthropic has been expanding its enterprise ecosystem as well. In March 2026, the company launched the Claude Partner Network with an initial $100 million commitment for partner training, technical support, and joint market development. Earlier this month, Anthropic said more than 40,000 firms had applied to join the network and over 10,000 consultants had earned a Claude certification.
For Wipro, the new CoE is more than a partner announcement. It is part of its broader effort to position itself as an AI-native enterprise, bringing platform integration, applied model expertise, and embedded delivery together to help clients move beyond AI pilots and into production-grade business workflows.
