Spotify is taking its Partner Program to more than 35 additional markets this fall, giving eligible podcasters new ways to earn from Premium video views and ads, while Premium subscribers in those regions get fewer dynamic ads on participating video podcasts.

TL;DR: Spotify Expands Podcast Partner Program To 35+ New Markets

  • Spotify is rolling out its Partner Program to more than 35 new markets, including Italy, Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Poland, Colombia, and Chile.
  • Eligible creators can earn from Premium video consumption, advertising, and sponsorships, while keeping 100% of embedded sponsorship revenue.
  • Spotify says monthly payouts to enrolled shows have risen by more than a third, while participating video shows have recorded over 45% average growth in consumption hours.

Spotify Partner Program Expansion Adds More Creator Revenue Streams

Spotify’s latest expansion pushes its podcast monetization program deeper into Europe, Latin America, Central America, and the Caribbean.

In its official announcement, Spotify called it its “largest expansion yet,” with the rollout covering markets such as Italy, Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Poland, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Uruguay, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Paraguay, Honduras, Panama, Bolivia, Nicaragua, San Marino, Andorra, Malta, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Curaçao, Bahamas, Barbados, Guyana, Belize, Suriname, Saint Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda, Haiti, Grenada, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and Dominica. all coming later this fall.

For eligible creators, the program combines multiple revenue channels rather than relying on a single ad model. Podcasters can earn Premium video revenue, receive advertising revenue from Spotify’s free tier and other podcast listening platforms, and manage embedded sponsorships while retaining all revenue from those sponsorships.

The expansion also follows Spotify’s decision earlier this year to make the program accessible to more creators. As per reports, creators can apply with at least three published episodes, 2,000 consumption hours, and 1,000 engaged audience members over the previous 30 days.

Spotify Says Podcast Payouts And Video Consumption Are Growing

Spotify says the wider eligibility rules are already translating into higher activity across the program. Total monthly payouts to enrolled shows have increased by more than a third, while video shows participating in the Partner Program have seen more than 45% average growth in consumption hours since launch.

That growth matters because Spotify is increasingly tying creator monetization to both listening and viewing behavior. The company highlighted SOLVED host Mark Manson, whose show now attracts three times more listeners on Spotify than on other platforms, as one example of how participating creators are expanding their audiences.

The overall video podcast consumption on Spotify has risen 140% since video podcasts were introduced in 2022, adding further context to why the company is widening access to its monetization program.

Spotify Premium Users Get Fewer Ads On Participating Video Podcasts

The expansion is not only about creator earnings.

Premium subscribers in the new markets will see dynamic ads removed from participating video podcasts, although sponsorships built directly into a creator’s show will remain.

That creates a cleaner viewing experience for subscribers while preserving sponsorship income for creators, giving Spotify a two-sided pitch as it expands the program. Creators get more ways to monetize their shows, while Premium users get a less interrupted video podcast experience.

The Spotify Partner Program will begin rolling out across the newly announced markets later this fall.
