Snap Inc., the parent company of Snapchat, has surpassed 30 million paid subscribers across its subscription services, marking a significant milestone for its growing subscription business. The announcement came alongside the company's third-quarter 2026 financial results, as Snapchat's daily active user count fell short of market expectations.

TL;DR

  • Snapchat has surpassed 30 million subscribers across Snapchat+, Lens+, Platinum, and Memories Storage plans.
  • The total is more than 5 million higher than the 25 million milestone reported in February 2026.
  • Snapchat reported 495 million daily active users, below analysts' expectations of 499 million.
  • Snap is expanding premium AI and AR experiences as it seeks to diversify revenue beyond advertising.

Snap announced the subscription milestone on November 4, 2026, alongside its third-quarter financial results. According to TechCrunch, the subscriber base has grown by more than 5 million since February.

Launched in 2022, Snapchat+ offers exclusive and early-access features, with its entry subscription priced at $3.99 per month. Snap subsequently expanded its paid options with Lens+, an $8.99 monthly plan for exclusive Lenses and augmented reality experiences, and Snapchat+ Platinum, a $15.99 plan offering an ad-free experience.

Snap also introduced paid Memories Storage plans for users who want to store more photos and videos. Crucially, the 30 million milestone includes subscribers across these different offerings rather than Snapchat+ alone.

In its official announcement, Snap said Lens+ subscriptions had grown nearly 600% since January 2026, supported by features such as AI Photoshoot. The company said AI-driven creativity and personalization are helping its paid services attract customers.

Snap CEO Evan Spiegel also discussed the progress in an investor letter cited by TechCrunch. He said that innovative AI-powered features helped Lens+ exceed the company's expectations, while paid subscribers still account for a small share of Snapchat's monthly community.

Snapchat's Daily User Growth Falls Short Of Expectations

Despite the subscription milestone, Snap's broader user metrics presented a more mixed picture. According to TechCrunch, the company reported 495 million daily active users during the third quarter of 2026, up from 493 million in the previous quarter but below analysts' expectations of 499 million.

TechCrunch also reported that Snap shares fell around 12% after the company missed advertising revenue and user growth estimates. That contrast highlights the difference between growing paid subscription adoption and meeting broader engagement and advertising expectations.

Meanwhile, Snap's official financial results showed quarterly revenue increased 14% year-over-year to approximately $1.72 billion. The company also reported net income of $56 million and adjusted EBITDA of $383 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2026.

Snap has indicated that it intends to focus more on monthly engagement rather than optimizing its products solely for daily use. In its investor letter, the company argued that longer-term metrics better reflect the value its products create for users.

Snap Expands Subscription Services Beyond Advertising

Snap is continuing to invest in subscriptions, including AI-powered creative tools, augmented reality experiences and additional storage choices. These products provide another source of revenue alongside its advertising business.

However, the subscriber milestone does not erase the challenges surrounding user growth or advertising performance. Spiegel acknowledged in the investor letter that advertising revenue growth remained below the company's target and said Snap would prioritize improving outcomes for advertisers.

With more than 30 million paid subscribers, Snap has demonstrated rising demand for premium features. Its latest results also show why maintaining audience engagement and strengthening advertising performance remain central to the company's business.
