“I think no company is going to be immune, including us,” said Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google’s parent company Alphabet, in an exclusive interview with the BBC.

Pichai was addressing long-standing speculations that the recent artificial intelligence (AI) bubble is set to burst. According to him, the unprecedented growth of AI investments has been an “extraordinary moment,” but yet holds some “irrationality.”

When asked if Google would be immune to the impact of a bubble burst, he said the company could weather the storm but would definitely be affected, just like everyone else.

Pichai also warned people not to “blindly trust” everything AI tools generate, as the “current state-of-the-art AI technology is prone to some errors.”

Instead, he suggested that people should use other tools alongside AI to maintain a rich information ecosystem.

"This is why people also use Google search, and we have other products that are more grounded in providing accurate information," said Pichai.

Ahead of this, Pichai also addressed energy needs, slowing down climate targets, investments in the U.K., the accuracy of Google’s AI models, and the effect of the AI revolution on jobs.

Pichai's warning came just before Google announced the launch of Gemini 3, the next iteration of its AI model.

Google says Gemini 3 combines all of Gemini’s capabilities together, sports state-of-the-art reasoning, and is its most intelligent model,

"Gemini 3 is also much better at figuring out the context and intent behind your request, so you get what you need with less prompting," said Pichai. "It’s amazing to think that in just two years, AI has evolved from simply reading text and images to reading the room."

Gemini 3 will bring more complex reasoning and new dynamic experiences in AI Mode in Search. It's the first time the company is bringing Gemini in Search on day one.

It also ships advanced agentic coding capabilities while introducing Google Antigravity, a new agentic development platform.

"It’s an agentic development platform that enables developers to operate at a higher, task-oriented level by managing agents across workspaces, while retaining a familiar AI IDE experience at its core," said Logan Kilpatrick, Product Lead, Google AI Studio and the Gemini API.

The technology and business world was recently sent into a frenzy when it was revealed that renowned investor Michael Burry placed a $1 billion bet against NVIDIA and Palantir.

Michael Burry became popular globally after the release of the 2008 movie The Big Short, which was based on the 2008 U.S. housing market collapse. In the movie (as in real life), Burry placed a large bet against banks providing mortgages; a bet that most laughed at—until Burry had the last laugh and, unfortunately, made a large fortune from the ill-fated situation.

Now, Burry is betting that the AI bubble will finally burst; a fear that’s been looming for a while, especially considering the large amounts of money exchanging hands among a select group of companies. The bet also came at a time when GPU leader NVIDIA’s market capitalization crossed $5 trillion.

Burry’s bet saw big tech stocks crash and wipe $730 billion in one day.

Of course, amid sensationalized headlines claiming a $1 billion bet, Burry most likely spent only about 1-5% of that amount or around $10-15 million.

Yet, it picked up the attention of AI companies, experts, and investors.

Recently, tech billionaire Peter Thiel's hedge fund, Thiel Macro, also got in the act by selling off its entire stake in NVIDIA. The sell-off, which was made public through a regulatory filing, represents around 537,742 shares worth $100 million as per NVIDIA’s closing price on September 30.

A week ago, SoftBank also sold its $5.8 billion stake in NVIDIA or 32.1 million shares. SoftBank is an integral part of Project Stargate, which also includes generative AI (GenAI) leader OpenAI and cloud computing platform bigwig Oracle.

All this comes just before NVIDIA’s third-quarter results are to be made available on Wednesday. The results will provide a clearer picture of whether people should begin worrying about the AI bubble burst, or NVIDIA will justify the heavy investments.

However, reports suggest that it could trigger a $320 billion swing in the chipmaker's market value, marking its largest post-earnings move ever.

Do you think the AI bubble burst will result in companies cutting back their AI adoption plans? Do you think it would cause economic turmoil around the world?
