Android Simplifies File Sharing And iPhone Switching

TechDogs - "Android File Sharing And iPhone Switching"
Google is now introducing a set of Android updates to make sharing, switching devices and messaging more seamless and secure. Google announced that Quick Share will now work with AirDrop-compatible sharing on supported Android devices, starting with Pixel smartphones.

The feature will later expand to devices from Samsung, OPPO, OnePlus, Vivo, Xiaomi and HONOR. Android users without compatible devices can also generate a QR code through Quick Share to instantly send files to iOS users via the cloud.

The company is also improving the iPhone-to-Android migration process. Users will soon be able to wirelessly transfer passwords, messages, apps, contacts, photos, eSIMs and even home screen layouts to Android devices, starting with Samsung Galaxy and Pixel phones later this year. Google also confirmed it is rolling out end-to-end encryption for RCS messaging across Android and iOS platforms.

Android 17 Adds New Creator Tools

Google is introducing a range of creator-focused updates aimed at improving video production, social media sharing and editing directly from Android devices. One of the new additions is Screen Reactions, which lets users record themselves and their phone screen at the same time for reaction-style videos. The feature will first arrive on Pixel devices this summer.

Google is also expanding its partnership with Meta to improve Instagram performance on Android. New upgrades include Ultra HDR capture, built-in video stabilization and Night Sight integration. The company said Android’s capture-to-upload pipeline has also been optimized to maintain image and video quality when posting to Instagram.

The Edits app on Android is receiving new AI-powered tools such as Smart Enhance and Sound Separation. Meanwhile, Adobe Premiere is also coming to Android, alongside support for the new APV professional video format on select flagship devices.

Google is now expanding Android Auto and cars with Google built-in redesigned interface, upgraded entertainment options and deeper Gemini integration to improve everyday driving. Android Auto is getting a refreshed design with customizable widgets, Material 3 Expressive styling and a new “Immersive Navigation” experience in Google Maps. The updated Maps interface introduces a 3D view with lane guidance, traffic lights and terrain details to help drivers navigate more easily.

Google is also adding premium entertainment features to Android Auto. Users in supported vehicles will soon be able to watch YouTube videos in full HD while parked, with playback automatically switching to audio-only when driving begins. Dolby Atmos support for music apps is also rolling out in select vehicles.

Gemini is becoming more deeply integrated into the driving experience as well for users to manage messages, place food orders and get vehicle-specific assistance directly through Android Auto and Google built-in systems.
