This year’s edition too featured a Media Day that came with some revolutionary revelations that sent shockwaves across the tech world.
This was followed by two days of product unveilings of concept and production-ready devices, widgets, and applications. Check out our coverage of what transpired on Media Day, Day 1, and Day 2.
Now, we’re about to dive into what Day 3 offered us.
Robotics
Over the last few years, the interest in robotics has grown exponentially, and CES too has witnessed an increase in displays for such machines.
This year too robotics was a popular choice from the very first day, as NVIDIA announced a range of AI-based applications, including robot training tech, in this regard. Furthermore, the company’s CEO Jensen Huang declared that the “ChatGPT moment” for robotics is on the horizon.
Apptronik unveiled its Apollo humanoid robot as part of Texas Instruments’ showcase. While the robot on display was one designed for a demonstration, which performed quite well, the actual robot deployed in factories will be a lot more intelligent and autonomous.
Apollo is expected to operate in warehouses, manufacturing plants, construction, oil and gas, electronics production, retail, home delivery, elder care, and more.
Standing at 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds, the robot can run for 4 hours on one charge and pick up packages up to 55 pounds. The robot can be mounted to mobility platforms, be stationary or move on its own two legs.
The robot has already been part of pilot programs at Mercedes.
China-based Unitree Robotics had a major reveal at the event, unveiling its G1, H1, H2, and Go2 robots, all of which are aesthetically pleasing, flexible, strong, well-balanced, powerful, and a little bit intimidating.
The Unitree G1 comes in as a humanoid agent AI avatar that’s 4.2 feet tall, weighs 77 pounds, and costs northward of $16,000. It offers extra-large joint movement angle space, with 23 to 43 joint motors, continuously learns using AI, has a battery life of around 2 hours, possesses 3D LIDAR technology, and can lift up to 6.6 pounds.
The Unitree H1 / H1-2 is Unitree's first universal humanoid robot. It’s a full-size humanoid robot standing at about 5.9 feet tall, weighs 108 pounds (H1) and 154 pounds (H1-2), and comes with similar technology as the G1. In addition to a few other exceptions, this robot can carry a load of about 46 pounds.
Unitree’s Go2, however, was as impressive as it was cute. That’s because instead of being a bipedal humanoid robot it’s Unitree’s new and improved intelligent bionic quadruped dog-looking robot. This robot is AI-enabled, can assume various positions and actions, can connect through Wi-Fi6/Bluetooth/4G, has a battery life of around 2 to 4 hours, comes with ultra-wide 4D LIDAR L1, a front camera and lamp, and more.
It considers its dog-like appearance seriously, by being able to execute a variety of poses, including running (at around 5m/s), jumping, stretching, shaking hands, cheering, pouncing, and sitting down (take a look at its video).
It weighs around 33 pounds, can carry up to 26 pounds, and its pricing begins from $1,600.
Unitree also showed off a similar quadruped robot that came with wheels at the base of its “feet”, a model called B2-W, that weighs 165 pounds and can carry a whopping 264-pound payload. It’s priced at $100,000.
Ahead of this, robotics startup Agility Robotics reintroduced its Digit robot at CES 2025, having originally revealed it at CES 2020. This bipedal robot can lift 40-pound packages.
Amage exhibited Tomo, a robot that could play the piano using advanced AI and automation.
Another robotic arm displayed can inject people with a precise dosage, bringing up applications in medical research, experimentation, and automated injection processes for humans.
Realbotix's Aria was the closest any robot looked like a human. It was designed to look like a blond, "female" robot who answered questions in a slightly mechanical way. As per the company, its robots are meant to possess “social intelligence, customizability, and realistic human features” and are “designed specifically for companionship and intimacy.”
Bringing the human element into robotics was German Bionic, which announced the Apogee Ultra, a new robotic exoskeleton that assists in walking, lowers injury and fatigue rates and offers up to 80 pounds of dynamic lift assistance.
DoorBox brought in an update to its previously launched smart package box. The new update sports a theft-proof design with live camera feeds and an alarm that automatically goes off if the box is tampered with.
Automobiles
We already explored some of the key reveals of CES 2025 for the automotive and transportation industry on the first day of the event. Since then, there have been more interesting unveilings.
However, not much came out from American automakers.
Unless you count an interview by Scout Motors’ CEO Scott Keogh who said modern cars “have become too disconnected” and “become a little bit dystopian”. This is why the company is sticking to a classical approach with its Traveler SUV and Terra pickup, by making use of lots of buttons, plain and old-school door handles, and other “nostalgic looks”.
Scout Motors is backed by Volkswagen.
The other American connection to the consumer electronics show being held in Las Vegas was Lucid Motors, which was plying a couple of its Gravity SUVs around CES 2025.
However, American automaker Aptera Motors was also present at CES 2025, but their vehicle isn’t what one would call conventional. Yet, the company is bringing back technology explored previously in vehicles, one that remains popular—solar power.
As per the company’s website, “Aptera is the most efficient solar electric vehicle that requires no charging for most daily use.”
Its solar-powered EV can travel 400 miles using a single charge, which completes in under an hour and can cover 40 miles of free driving per day powered entirely by sunlight. This means a driver can complete over 10,000 miles per year of solar-powered driving in sunny climates, without tapping the grid.
At CES, Aptera also announced a new partnership with LG Energy Solution to power solar electric vehicles with advanced battery technology.
Applications
In the last two decades, the world of computer and mobile applications has grown exponentially. In the last two years, artificial intelligence (AI) has further revolutionized it.
Where there’s AI, there’s NVIDIA!
NVIDIA revealed a prototype AI avatar, called R2X, that can be deployed on a user’s PC desktop and can help them navigate apps on their machines.
The avatar, which looks like a video game character, has been rendered and animated using NVIDIA’s AI models but can be run on a chatbot of the user’s choosing, picking from popular LLMs such as OpenAI’s GPT-4o or xAI’s Grok. Users can interact with the avatar through text and voice, process files, or use it to get context on what’s happening on their screen or camera.
Sticking to desktop applications and one that’s the go-to choice for many movie lovers, media player VLC revealed that it has topped 6 billion downloads globally, while also unveiling an AI-powered subtitle generator that can automatically generate subtitles and translate them into more than 100 languages for free.
Doublepoint’s WowMouse application allows an Apple Watch to double as a mouse that can control devices using hand gestures. This is done by using the smartwatch’s sensors, compass, and accelerometer.
Be sure to check out our coverage of other AI Hardware displayed at CES 2025.
Other Findings
Innova NanoJet introduced a new air purifier, Clean Air for Life, that cleans air using only water droplets. The purifier can eliminate airborne viruses, allergens, and pollutants without filters or chemicals, helping reduce costs.
AirFarm revealed the world’s first inflatable farm that uses 99% less water to grow vegetables. This technology can show brilliant application in draught-stricken areas or deserts. Furthermore, its lightweight and portable modules are also 75% lighter than conventional container farms and can be installed in just half a day. Its unique and space-saving design also means that it can be transported without using a trailer.
Woofwoof Lux brought in the World’s first AI-powered dog washing machine cleans, which comes with sensors and soothing music that ensure a comfortable, stress-free bathing experience. The machine can be used for different dog sizes and coat types and can dry them off in just 20 minutes.
