Amazon Hikes Echo, Kindle, And Fire TV Prices By Up To 60% Amid Memory Shortage
Updated on Tue, Aug 25, 2026
Amazon has raised prices across several of its popular consumer devices, including Echo speakers, Kindle e-readers, Fire TV products and eero routers, with the Echo Dot getting the steepest increase of 60% amid rising memory and storage component costs. As reported by The Verge, the increases span multiple parts of Amazon's hardware portfolio.
TL;DR
- Amazon raised prices across Echo, Kindle, Fire TV and eero devices.
- The Echo Dot jumped 60%, from $49.99 to $79.99.
- Amazon blamed significant increases in memory and storage component costs.
- Ring cameras, video doorbells and the Echo Studio appear unaffected, while Amazon says it will continue offering promotions.
Amazon Raises Prices Across Its Hardware Lineup
Amazon customers looking to buy some of the company's most popular devices will now have to shell out more.
TechCrunch reported that Amazon raised prices across its hardware lineup over the weekend, affecting Fire TV, Echo, Kindle and eero products. The biggest percentage increase was seen on the Echo Dot, which climbed from $49.99 to $79.99, representing a 60% jump.
The Verge provided a broader breakdown of the increases. Amazon's Fire TV Stick 4K Max rose from $59.99 to $84.99, an increase of around 42%, while the 16GB Kindle jumped from $109.99 to $149.99, or around 36%. The 16GB Kindle Paperwhite increased from $159.99 to $199.99.
Other affected products include the Echo Spot, which moved from $79.99 to $109.99, the Echo Show 21, which increased from $399.99 to $499.99, and the Echo Dot Max, which now costs $119.99 instead of $99.99.
Amazon also raised the price of its eero networking products. The eero 7 three-pack went from $349.99 to $399.99, while the eero Pro 7 three-pack rose from $699.99 to $799.99.
Amazon Blames Rising Memory And Storage Costs
Amazon says the adjustments were driven by rising component costs rather than a change in its broader device strategy.
"The consumer electronics industry is facing significant increases in memory and storage component costs," Kristy Schmidt, senior communications manager for Amazon Devices & Services, told The Verge.
Amazon added that it had absorbed the rising costs for as long as possible before adjusting prices. TechCrunch also reported that the company plans to continue offering occasional promotions to customers despite the higher standard prices.
CNET characterized the development as another strike from "RAMageddon," with its report similarly highlighting rising component costs behind Amazon's increases. The price hikes arrive as memory supply constraints increasingly spill over from the component market into finished consumer electronics.

AOL also highlighted higher prices across Echo, Kindle, Fire TV and eero devices, noting that Amazon joins other technology companies facing higher memory-related costs.
Not Every Amazon Device Is Getting More Expensive
The increases do not appear to cover Amazon's entire device portfolio.
The Verge reported that Ring cameras and video doorbells were not affected, while the higher-end Echo Studio remained at $219.99. Amazon has also not specified how long the new prices will remain in place or whether additional products could receive adjustments later.
For buyers, however, the immediate impact is clear. Some of Amazon's traditionally affordable entry points into its Alexa, Kindle and Fire TV ecosystems have become substantially more expensive as the memory shortage continues to push hardware costs higher.
