What Is Harlem Shake?
On New Year's Eve, a group of kids in Australia celebrated by dancing to the Harlem Shake. Haven't you seen it yet? Well, you should, but before that, let's know more about it. Their video went viral on YouTube, created a huge sturr and cought on to inspire thousands of imitators. Soon, millions of videos were posted on the Internet featuring people dancing to the same song, and they were all doing it while wearing the same weird masks. The videos were so popular that they started a new dance craze called "The Harlem Shake." The Harlem Shake is a silly meme that bored Australians created. Now it's everywhere! You can't help but laugh when you see someone dressed up as a chicken dancing around like an idiot for half a minute. The Harlem Shake meme is a video-based fad that began in February 2013 and has since spread across the globe. The original video was uploaded to YouTube by five Australian teens. It was then remixed and uploaded by others, and the meme quickly became one of the most popular memes of all time. Queensland filmed the original video, Australia teens Dominic "D-Trix" Sandford, Taylah Roberts, Cameron O'Shea, Sam Crook, and Mitchell Wright. The dance scene inspired the teens in an episode of the show Prank Patrol', which featured a man dancing in a large container with his arms raised above his head for 15 seconds. The group posted their version of the Harlem Shake on February 2nd, 2013, to their Facebook and YouTube channels. The video featured D-Trix and three other people not featured in different versions of the meme: Taylah Roberts, Cameron O'Shea, and Sam Crook (also known as Taz). Within 24 hours of posting their Harlem Shake video to Facebook and YouTube, it had already been shared over 20 thousand times!
