YouTube Music Adds AI Song Labels With 3 Disclosure Types For Artists
Updated on Thu, Oct 15, 2026
YouTube Music has introduced new labels to help listeners identify songs created using generative artificial intelligence (AI). The update, announced on October 14, 2026, brings AI disclosures directly to the music player and introduces three classifications for music partners.
TL;DR
- YouTube Music is rolling out labels identifying tracks created primarily using generative AI.
- Music partners can classify content as Fully Gen AI, Partly Gen AI, or No Gen AI.
- Labels will appear on the player screen, with additional information available when tapped.
- The labels will eventually reach the main YouTube app.
- The announcement follows Deezer's plans to let listeners filter out fully AI-generated music.
Interestingly, a song featuring entirely human-recorded audio could still fall under the Partly Gen AI classification if its accompanying music video contains AI-generated visuals.
Music partners can submit these declarations through DDEX metadata, CSV delivery templates, or YouTube Studio.
However, YouTube is not relying exclusively on information provided by creators and music distributors.
The company says it can supplement disclosures using its own detection systems and may classify content as fully or partly AI-generated even when partners have not supplied that information.
Importantly, the three categories describe the metadata submitted by music partners. YouTube has not established that every classification will appear as a separate visible label for listeners.
Furthermore, the company has clarified through its existing AI disclosure guidelines that labeling AI-generated content alone does not automatically affect monetization eligibility or audience reach.

YouTube Introduces 3 AI Music Disclosure Categories
YouTube's announcement comes as other streaming platforms are introducing additional measures to address the growing presence of AI-generated music.
On October 13, rival streaming service Deezer announced a new filtering feature that will allow listeners to exclude fully AI-generated music from search results.
The toggle, expected before the end of 2026, will remove detected AI-generated tracks, albums, and related artists from search results when enabled.
Deezer CEO Alexis Lanternier said the company wants to give listeners more control over their streaming experiences.
"We've seen a clear user demand for the ability to filter out AI-generated music," Lanternier said.
The development follows Deezer's July 2026 disclosure that it was receiving nearly 90,000 fully AI-generated tracks daily, accounting for more than half of new uploads on peak days.
However, these figures represent Deezer's platform-specific data, not the total volume of AI music uploaded across the streaming industry.
Deezer has also revealed that it excluded more than 42 million AI-generated tracks from algorithmic and editorial recommendations between January 2025 and August 2026.
While Deezer is moving toward giving listeners the option to exclude fully AI-generated recordings from search results, YouTube Music is currently prioritizing content disclosure.
For YouTube Music users, the immediate change is greater visibility into whether generative AI played a significant role in creating a song.
The platform has not announced a comparable listener-controlled filtering option or a specific completion date for extending the new music labels to the main YouTube app.
