Truecaller Expands Family Scam Protection Feature Globally!

A phone rings, and like most of us, we answer without thinking twice. Sometimes it’s a friend, sometimes a delivery update and sometimes, unfortunately, it’s a scam. With fraud calls becoming increasingly common, many people now pause before picking up unknown numbers, especially when it’s about personal or financial information.

This growing concern has made call protection tools more important than ever. Recognizing this dynamic, Truecaller is expanding a feature designed to let one trusted person help protect others from potential scam calls.

It’s worth noting that the feature itself isn’t new. Truecaller first introduced Family Protection in December 2025, initially testing it in four pilot markets including Sweden, Chile, Malaysia, and Kenya. After seeing strong results, the company has now expanded the feature worldwide, including India, which remains its biggest market.

The feature lets one family member act as an admin for a group of up to five users. Once the group is created, the admin receives alerts when other members receive calls that may be flagged as potential fraud. If the admin suspects the call could be harmful, they can remotely end the call for members using Android devices.

Admins can also block suspicious numbers, share blocklists with the group, and view certain device signals such as whether a member is walking, driving, or if the phone is in silent mode.

This helps admins decide the right time to reach out if they think someone might be at risk. At the same time, Truecaller says admins cannot view members’ regular call history or SMS messages, helping maintain user privacy.
