By Amrit Mehra

However, upon release, the device’s availability remained limited to the United States and Canada primarily, with eventual availability to a handful of countries in the EU, UK and Asia based on pre-orders with deliveries shipping in scattered batches.
Now, this is set to be changed as Rabbit Inc. is here with a variety of announcements regarding its product and its availability.
So, what did the artificial intelligence hardware and software company reveal about its new market? Let’s explore!
What Availability Changes Did Rabbit Announce?
-
Through a news release published on its website, Rabbit announced that its first-of-its-kind AI-native r1 device will now be available across the European Union (excluding Malta) and the United Kingdom.
-
Additionally, the company said all new r1 orders globally will ship within three business days.
-
Priced at $199 with no subscription, Rabbit’s r1 enables users to access the most advanced consumer AI models through a device that fits in their pocket.
-
The move comes as the popularity of the device has grown massively, becoming the best-selling and most-used native AI device to date in the consumer electronics industry.
-
The led to the company selling over 100,000 devices, with over 33% being sold in Europe alone.
-
As per Rabbit, the device has benefitted its customers in numerous ways and enriched their daily lives, “from deciphering complicated parking and road signs and getting important gardening tips using the AI-powered rabbit eye camera, to translating conversations in real-time and generating healthy recipe ideas.”
What Did Rabbit’s Founder And CEO Say?
-
Through the news release, Rabbit CEO and Founder Jesse Lyu said, “r1 was designed from day one to be a global device, and we want to deliver it to every corner of the world.”
-
“We’re very encouraged to see the existing appetite for r1 in Europe already as we pave the way in this new category of AI-native products.”

What Feature Updates Does Rabbit R1 Offer?
-
The device comes with rabbit OS (a personalized operating system) and rabbithole (a personalized end-to-end generative artificial intelligence agent experience).
-
It also offers access to leading generative AI models and LLMs from the likes of ChatGPT, Perplexity and Anthropic.
-
Rabbit is committed to improving its product based on customer feedback and has demonstrated a community-focused approach since the launch of r1.
-
This ensures a fast feedback loop between its consumers and engineers that allows Rabbit to deploy regular software updates to enhance the user experience.
-
In July, the company released its new “beta rabbit” feature, which allows the device to provide “significantly smarter answers to more complex queries”.
-
The company also made other updates to make the device “more useful and delightful”, including global memory recall for personalized responses; Wolfram-Alpha integration for increased accuracy across mathematics, science, technology, society and culture; Magic Camera and others.
-
Another important aspect for the company is security and privacy in its devices.
What Did Rabbit Say About Its Security Measures?
-
On July 30, Rabbit published a blog post that addressed some security incidents reported by users regarding the nature of r1, its security systems and underlying AI agent technology.
-
This included a penetration test conducted by cybersecurity experts at Obscurity Labs to expose weaknesses or risks in Rabbit’s system.
-
The results showed that the company’s multiple layers of security worked as intended, despite external statements by critics.
-
On the other hand, the company let go of an employee who intentionally leaked API keys to a self-proclaimed “hacktivist” group and immediately revoked and rotated those API keys.
-
The company also moved additional secrets into AWS Secrets Manager.
-
As per Matt Domko, Head of Security at Rabbit, “The most important thing we do at rabbit is earn and protect customer trust. This is something that everyone, not just the security team, is charged with when they join the company.”
-
“We’re actively taking steps to consistently improve our security program on a daily basis.”
Do you think Rabbit will be able to grow its sales and retain its position as the best-selling and most-used native AI device? Do you think the company will be challenged by competitors soon?
