OpenAI Rolls Out ChatGPT Personal Finance Feature For Pro Users!
Updated on Mon, May 18, 2026
TL;DR
- OpenAI rolls out a ChatGPT personal finance feature for U.S. Pro users.
- Users can connect bank accounts, track spending, and view finances in one dashboard.
- The feature supports 12,000+ institutions via Plaid and is accessible through the Finances section or “@Finances” command.
OpenAI has started rolling out a preview of the personal finance feature for ChatGPT Pro users in the U.S. on web and iOS. The experience allows users to securely connect financial accounts, track spending, monitor subscriptions, view upcoming payments, and access portfolio insights through a unified dashboard. The rollout currently supports more than 12,000 financial institutions through Plaid, with Intuit support expected later.

To access the feature, users can open the Finances section from the ChatGPT sidebar and select “Get started.” They can also begin by typing “@Finances, connect my accounts” in a conversation. ChatGPT then guides users through securely linking accounts before syncing and categorizing financial data.
Beyond connected accounts, users can also share financial context such as savings goals, loans, mortgages, or planned purchases. OpenAI says this helps ChatGPT provide more personalized and context-aware financial responses over time.
The company emphasized that users remain in control of their information. Financial accounts can be disconnected anytime, synced data will be deleted from OpenAI’s systems within 30 days after disconnection, and temporary chats will not access connected financial accounts. Users can also manage or delete saved financial memories from the Finances section.
Topics For More Insights:
OpenAI said conversations with connected financial accounts default to GPT-5.5 Thinking, its latest reasoning model. According to the company, “GPT-5.5 Thinking outperforms earlier models on complex personal finance tasks,” while “GPT-5.5 Pro, available for people on ChatGPT Pro, achieves the best overall performance.”
The company added that it plans to improve the feature based on early feedback before expanding it to Plus users and eventually making it available more widely.
