Microsoft is bringing its scattered Copilot experiences into one “super app” in 2026, combining chat, coding, Cowork and autonomous agents across personal and business use as it pushes AI from answering questions toward completing workflows.

Microsoft Brings Its Copilot Products Under One Roof
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella confirmed the upcoming Copilot super app during the company’s fiscal fourth-quarter 2026 earnings call on July 29, 2026.
Nadella said Copilot is moving rapidly from chat to Cowork and Autopilots. He added that Microsoft will bring these experiences together with Code in one super app spanning consumer and commercial use, calling the move “a major step forward.”
The Verge and Gizmodo reported that the application will merge Copilot’s conversational, coding and agentic capabilities. AI Chat Daily also described the move as a combination of chat and code, while Digital Trends highlighted Microsoft’s attempt to reduce the need for users to switch between separate AI applications.
The upcoming application is expected to incorporate Copilot Chat, Copilot Cowork, coding tools and Microsoft’s Autopilots, which are autonomous agents designed to handle long-running tasks. Reports have also linked the coding component to GitHub Copilot, although Microsoft has only publicly referred to it as Code.
Microsoft has not revealed whether every capability will be available to all users at launch or whether access will vary across personal subscriptions, Microsoft 365 plans and enterprise offerings.
Microsoft’s Copilot Strategy Moves From Chat To Action
The announcement builds on Microsoft’s March 2026 decision to bring its consumer and commercial Copilot teams together as one unified organization.
At the time, Nadella said the company wanted to move from a collection of individual products toward an integrated system spanning the Copilot experience, Microsoft 365 applications, AI models and the underlying Copilot platform.
The super app represents the product-facing result of that strategy. Rather than asking users to navigate separate Copilot products, Microsoft wants one interface capable of answering questions, accessing workplace context, generating code and assigning multi-step work to autonomous agents.
Microsoft has already made Copilot Cowork generally available for completing multi-step tasks grounded in workplace data. It has also introduced Autopilots as autonomous, long-running agents with enterprise compliance features.
Microsoft Copilot Adoption Continues To Grow
Microsoft revealed that Microsoft 365 Copilot now has more than 30 million paid seats, with net seat additions more than doubling quarter over quarter.
The company also said conversations per user nearly doubled year over year, while average weekly engagement reached levels comparable with Outlook and Teams. User satisfaction scores doubled across the previous three quarters, and Copilot latency fell by 25% during the quarter.

Meanwhile, GitHub Copilot reached 50 million users. Microsoft said Copilot revenue accelerated by more than 60% quarter over quarter, while GitHub’s overall user base reached 225 million.
The confirmation arrived alongside Microsoft’s $90 billion quarterly revenue result, representing 18% year-over-year growth. The company said demand for Azure and its first-party AI applications helped drive its performance.
However, Microsoft has not yet publicly demonstrated the finished super app or provided a definitive launch date. For now, the company has confirmed that it intends to bring the unified experience to consumer and commercial users during the current quarter.
