Meta, Apple, And YouTube Redefines User Experience With New Features
Updated on Tue, Nov 4, 2025
Well, Meta knows this shift well. After all, when it added Stories to Instagram back in 2016, the feature exploded in popularity and changed how millions share their daily lives. Now, the company’s Threads app is taking a page from that playbook by rolled out a new feature called Ghost Posts that automatically archive after 24 hours.
The idea behind this feature is to let people express themselves more freely without the “pressure of permanence or polish.” The company described it as a way to “share unfiltered thoughts and fresh takes” that fade after a day. To create one, users can simply toggle on the ghost icon before posting.
These ghost posts appear right alongside regular posts in the main feed but vanish after 24 hours. Replies to them won’t show up publicly either, and they will go straight to your messaging inbox instead. Only the person who posts can see who liked and replied.
“Here today and gone tomorrow,” Meta said, encouraging users to try new things and share spontaneous moments.
Overall, Meta aims at an objective where people can speak freely whether through a detailed post or a thought that vanishes by tomorrow.
While Meta focuses on making sharing more effortless, Apple is doing something similar on the accessibility front with a major App Store revamp.
Apple has quietly made a notable change to how people explore its App Store, and this time, it’s not limited to Apple users. The company has introduced a redesigned web interface for the App Store, making it much easier for anyone to browse apps directly through a browser, whether on a Mac, Windows PC, or any other device.
Earlier, the App Store’s website wasn’t very user-friendly. You could only open individual app pages, often found through a Google search, and there was no way to explore categories or discover new apps. On Apple devices, app links would redirect to the App Store app, while on non-Apple devices, users would often reach a dead end.
Now, that experience has enhanced as the new design lets users browse by category and platform, with dedicated sections for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Watch, and more. The layout is cleaner, easier to navigate, and feels closer to using the actual App Store. While you still can’t download apps directly from the web, this feature could potentially be added later.
This update may not impact the average iPhone user right away, but it’s a useful change for developers, tech researchers, and anyone exploring iOS apps from non-Apple devices.
Beyond convenience, the redesign also reflects a larger shift in Apple’s approach. By making the App Store more accessible on the web, Apple appears to be taking small but visible steps toward greater openness and showing it’s listening to both users and regulators.
In short, even though most people might not notice it immediately, this web redesign marks an important move for Apple that opens the door, just a little wider, to the rest of the tech world.
As Apple is refining how we explore apps, YouTube is refining how we see videos.
YouTube is giving its massive video library a modern touch with help from artificial intelligence (AI). The platform announced a new “Super Resolution” feature that uses AI to automatically upgrade older or low-quality videos to HD, with future support planned for 4K upscaling. This could be particularly significant for videos uploaded between 2005 and 2010, before HD became the norm.
The new feature makes older videos look sharper and more enjoyable to watch, especially on smart TVs and high-resolution screens. Until now, many older uploads, particularly those from YouTube’s early years, have looked dated or pixelated on modern displays. With this update, YouTube is using AI to bridge that visual gap.
When a video has been enhanced, viewers will see a “Super Resolution” label under the settings menu, through which they can switch between the AI-upscaled version and the original upload.
YouTube has clarified that the original files and resolutions will stay intact, ensuring no content is overwritten or lost. Importantly, creators will retain full control and can opt out of the enhancement if they prefer their videos to remain unchanged.
The introduction of Super Resolution is part of a wider push by YouTube to integrate AI across its platform. Alongside the upscaling feature, the company is also rolling out “immersive” homepage previews for smart TVs, better search functions within specific channels, and QR-based shopping links for videos featuring products.
Do you think viewers will prefer AI-enhanced clarity over the original charm? Will Apple’s new web App Store bring more users in?
