Furthermore, NVIDIA is well-positioned to lead the way in the industry with recent announcements, which include creating custom AI chips for businesses with unique requirements as well as making export-compliant chips for China in a bid to retain its position.
Additionally, these moves extend beyond just AI chips, with the company tying up with Australia’s Pawsey Supercomputing Research Centre to boost quantum computing efforts.
With the company looking to ride the AI wave as much as possible, NVIDIA displayed why it’s an industry leader in a series of new developments.
So, what were these developments? Let’s explore!
Where Does NVIDIA Stand In The Market?
- According to recent reports, NVIDIA’s market capitalization recently topped $2 trillion.
- This makes it only the fourth US company to reach the mark, after Apple, Microsoft and Alphabet.
- Its valuation breached the $2 trillion ceiling only for a brief period, as its shares rose 4% on Friday, taking it past the mark. However, at the close of the day, the company’s valuation stood at $1.94 trillion.
- After going public in 1999, it took the company 24 years to reach a valuation of $1 trillion, which it hit in May 2023. That’s over 8,760 days!
- In contrast, it took the company just 270 days to reach its next trillion.
- Additionally, the company’s stock price has more than tripled in the last year.

What Did NVIDIA’s CEO Say?
- As a leader of the AI race, NVIDIA’s CEO, Jensen Huang has certainly been swooning over the technology. This includes some inspiring and insightful words from Huang at the World Government Summit in Dubai.
- According to Huang, the revolution being brought about by AI has rendered programming a non-vital skill, despite the technology being in its early stage.
- Huang believes that humans should switch their focus to more valuable subjects like biology, education, manufacturing, farming, etc., as AI can take care of coding.
- Furthermore, Huang iterated that for the past 10-15 years experts at tech forums have encouraged young people to learn coding and how to program but, “in fact, it’s almost exactly the opposite.”
- Jensen Huang said, “It is our job to create computing technology such that nobody has to program. And that the programming language is human ... Everybody in the world is now a programmer. This is the miracle of artificial intelligence.”
- In a separate interview, Huang also spoke about the importance of AI tools in today’s day and age, as well as the ones he uses, saying he prefers Perplexity AI but also uses ChatGPT “almost every day”.
- Ahead of this, NVIDIA’s CEO added $47.7 billion to his net worth in one year, with $10 billion coming in the last week as the company’s stocks rose again.
Some online users even suggested that NVIDIA should rename their brand to NVID-AI, given its single-minded focus on AI chips and other AI-centric initiatives.
Jokes aside, do you think recent developments have solidified NVIDIA’s leading position in the AI industry? How will its competitors respond to gain back market share from the AI giant?
