Apple’s Foldable iPhone Faces Delays As Its App Store Fight With Epic Games Heats Up!

Overall Rating
The race to stay ahead in tech isn’t just about launching new products anymore; it’s also about navigating complex rules and constant innovation pressure. Even the biggest players are finding that pushing boundaries comes with its own set of challenges, both in the lab and in the courtroom.

TL;DR

•    Foldable iPhone faces delays due to engineering issues.
•    App Store battle with Epic Games heads to Supreme Court.
•    Both could impact Apple’s future plans and revenue.

Apple is currently dealing with pressure on two major fronts, highlighting just how tricky that balance can be. On the product side, its much-anticipated foldable iPhone is facing engineering hurdles during early testing.

The report says that more issues than expected have surfaced in the initial production phase, which could delay mass production and push shipments back by a few months in a worst-case scenario.

"It's true that more issues than expected have emerged during the early test production phase, and additional time will be needed to resolve them and make necessary adjustments," the report mentioned, quoting one source familiar with the matter.

This could impact Apple’s broader plans for a 2026 launch lineup, where the foldable device is expected to play a key role alongside upgraded non-folding models. While delays in early testing aren’t unusual for new form factors, they do signal that Apple is still fine-tuning the technology before bringing it to market.

At the same time, Apple is also continuing its long-running legal battle with Epic Games over App Store policies. The company is preparing to take the case to the U.S. Supreme Court after lower courts questioned its 27% commission on purchases made through external payment systems.

The dispute dates back to 2020, when Epic introduced external payment options in its app to bypass Apple’s fees. While Apple largely won the initial case, courts later ruled that its approach to external payments may not comply with earlier orders. Now, with limited options left in lower courts, Apple is looking to escalate the matter further.

The outcome of this case could have broader implications for how Apple manages its App Store ecosystem and generates revenue from developers.

Taken together, these developments show Apple navigating both product innovation challenges and regulatory scrutiny at the same time which are the two factors that could shape its next phase of growth.
