Anthropic’s 75% Nonprofit Discount, Coding Tool Bun Buy & Claude Code $1 Billion Revenue
Updated on Wed, Dec 3, 2025
The company will push initiatives such as ads, shopping, personal assistant Pulse, health agents, and more, to make its breadwinner more capable.
The move comes as Google gained ground in the AI race following the launch of Gemini 3 and Nano Banana Pro, both of which have received massive praise, signaling a shift in user preferences.
OpenAI also faces another challenger in the form of Anthropic.
Anthropic already commands a stronger market share in the enterprise AI sector, and a large part of that is thanks to its coding capabilities powered by Claude Code, which have only gotten better with the launch of Opus 4.5.
Just six months after becoming available to the public, Anthropic’s Claude Code has reached $1 billion in run-rate revenue, as per the company.
“Claude Code reached $1 billion in run-rate revenue in only 6 months, and bringing the Bun team into Anthropic means we can build the infrastructure to compound that momentum and keep pace with the exponential growth in AI adoption,” said Mike Krieger, Chief Product Officer of Anthropic.
To further reinforce its coding capabilities, Anthropic announced that it acquired Bun, a fast, all-in-one JavaScript runtime, bundler, test runner, and package manager, which is poised to make Claude Code even faster.
“Bun represents exactly the kind of technical excellence we want to bring into Anthropic. Jarred and his team rethought the entire JavaScript toolchain from first principles while remaining focused on real use cases,” added Krieger.
Now, that lead is about to get reinforcements in the form of the company’s latest announcements.
Anthropic just launched Claude for Nonprofits, which could bring nonprofits access to Claude with a discount of up to 75%.
It will bring eligible nonprofits discounted access to Team and Enterprise plans. The Team plan is aimed to aid smaller organizations, while the Enterprise plan brings larger nonprofits additional security features and administrative control.
Nonprofits will be able to use Anthropic’s latest and most powerful models, Claude Sonnet 4.5 and Claude Haiku 4.5, with Claude Opus 4.5 available on request for Enterprise plan users.
However, the goodies don’t end there. The plan also comes with a free course—AI Fluency for Nonprofits—to help them use AI more effectively, and connectors to new nonprofit tools—Blackbaud, Candid, and Benevity.
Blackbaud spans CRM and fundraising tools for donor management, Candid provides data on nonprofits, funders, and philanthropic opportunities, and Benevity offers access to over 2.4 million validated nonprofits in Claude.
Anthropic is also collaborating with The Bridgespan Group, Idealist Consulting, Vera Solutions, and Slalom to enhance overall strategies, impact measurement, and AI implementation across nonprofits. Meanwhile, partnerships with the Constellation Fund, Robin Hood, and Tipping Point Community have helped the AI firm better support nonprofits.
Various nonprofits such as The Epilepsy Foundation, The International Rescue Committee, IDinsight, SkillUp, and Robin Hood already use Claude.
“These organizations have taught us what works—and what doesn't. From our partners, we know AI helps most when it fits into existing workflows, upholds the privacy their communities expect, and is affordable,” Anthropic said.
Do you think these moves will help Anthropic capture a stronger position in the AI sector and cause OpenAI even more problems?
