Anthropic Tests Claude Money To Link Bank Accounts And Analyze Spending

Anthropic appears to be preparing a new personal finance feature called Claude Money that could let users connect bank accounts directly to Claude and ask the AI assistant questions about their spending, financial plans, and other money-related information.

The feature has not been officially announced by Anthropic yet, but references to it have surfaced inside the Claude app for iOS, where a new Money tab appeared alongside sections such as Chats, Code, Artifacts, Dispatch, and Cowork.

However, the feature does not appear to be broadly available yet, and Anthropic has not publicly detailed Claude Money or confirmed when, or if, the current implementation will launch.

 

What Could Claude Money Do?

 

Giving Claude access to financial accounts could remove the need for users to repeatedly upload bank statements or transaction files before asking questions about their finances.

TestingCatalog suggests the feature could eventually allow Claude to analyze spending, identify recurring payments, summarize account balances, visualize financial trends, answer budgeting questions, and assist with planning.

However, these broader capabilities have not been confirmed by Anthropic, so they should not be treated as finalized Claude Money features.

What the discovered interface does indicate is that Anthropic is exploring a more persistent connection between Claude and users' personal financial information.

That would represent a notable expansion of Claude's consumer capabilities, moving the chatbot beyond conversations and uploaded documents toward continuously accessible financial context.

Key Claude Money Details Remain Unknown

Several important questions remain unanswered.

It is currently unclear which banks Claude Money supports, which types of financial accounts can be connected, which third-party provider will handle account linking, and what data Claude will be permitted to access.

Anthropic has also not disclosed pricing, geographic availability, privacy protections specific to Claude Money, or whether users will be able to restrict access to individual accounts or categories of financial information.

No equivalent Money section has been reported on Claude's web interface either, with the currently discovered references appearing in the iOS application.

These unanswered questions are particularly important because bank-account connections could expose substantially more sensitive and continually changing information than a document uploaded for a single conversation.

 

Anthropic Is Already Expanding Into Finance

 

The reported consumer feature comes as Anthropic is making a broader push into financial services.

In May, the company introduced ten financial services agents designed for professional tasks such as building financial models, reviewing earnings, preparing pitchbooks, reconciling general ledgers, screening KYC files, and reviewing financial statements.

Anthropic said those agents use connectors to obtain governed access to financial data and can work with services including FactSet, S&P Capital IQ, MSCI, PitchBook, Morningstar and LSEG.

“AI agents are only as good as the data and context they can access,” Anthropic said when expanding its financial data ecosystem.

More recently, Anthropic launched tools for financial advisers that connect Claude with investment analytics and wealth-management platforms from companies including BlackRock, Charles Schwab and Addepar.

The product is designed to help financial professionals prepare for client meetings, review portfolios and perform follow-up work.

Claude Money, if released, would take Anthropic's financial ambitions in a different direction by putting similar data-driven capabilities directly in the hands of consumers.

Claude Money Could Rival ChatGPT Finances

 

Anthropic would not be the first major AI company to connect a consumer chatbot directly to financial accounts.

OpenAI already offers ChatGPT Finances to eligible US users, enabling them to connect financial accounts through Plaid and ask questions about spending, balances, subscriptions, savings, investments and net worth.

That makes Claude Money a potentially significant competitive move, but comparisons remain limited until Anthropic reveals exactly how its own service will work.

For now, Claude Money remains an unreleased feature discovered inside Claude's mobile interface rather than a formally announced Anthropic product.

Until Anthropic confirms its availability and explains how bank-account data will be connected, stored and used, the feature's exact scope and privacy implications remain unknown.
