While Tesla's meteoric Q2 earnings have the EV industry buzzing, you may be asking what's the secret behind this electrifying success?

Well, CNBC spills the (electric) beans on the key factors driving Tesla's jaw-dropping growth:

  • Production And Delivery Ramps Up

Tesla reports delivery data in aggregate for models and regions, rather than for models and regions separately. For the sixth consecutive quarter, Tesla produced more cars than it delivered in the second quarter of 2023. Tesla reported 254,695 deliveries in the second quarter of 2022 and the company expects to record 422,875 deliveries in the first quarter of 2023. The second quarter of 2022 saw Tesla create 258,580 automobiles, down from the previous quarter's 440,808 output.

  • Heavy Discounts

The electric vehicle manufacturer led by Elon Musk offered discounts and other incentives to boost sales of its vehicles in the United States during the quarter. These included price cuts on the Model 3 entry-level sedan, Model X SUV and the Model S flagship sedan. Under the Inflation Reduction Act, Americans can claim a $7,500 tax credit for purchasing a Model 3 or Model Y. #ElectricSavings

  • Announcements Of Forthcoming Releases And Factory Openings

Musk stated that Tesla will build a new facility near Monterrey, Mexico, a day's drive from its current factory in Austin, Texas. This year, the business plans to launch sales of a partially updated Model 3 in North America. Musk announced at Tesla's annual shareholder meeting in May that the company will begin shipping its Cybertruck in 2023, followed by announcements on a new type of drive unit and other technologies that would allow it to sell cheaper electric vehicles in the future.
