Elon Musk always has big plans! Not just for his companies but to revolutionize the industries he’s engaged in or the ones he’s interested in. Did you know he was a co-founder of OpenAI’s ChatGPT at one point? Apart from that, he’s at the helm of industry giants like SpaceX, Tesla, The Boring Company, Neuralink and (infamously?) Twitter.

Recently, at Tesla’s Investor Day 2023 which was held at the company’s Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, USA, Elon Musk revealed his third “Master Plan”.

Speaking about it, Elon Musk said, “There is a clear path to sustainable energy on Earth. It doesn’t require destroying natural habitats. It doesn’t require us to be austere and stop using electricity and sort of be in the cold or anything.”

Master Plan 3 is directed at a ‘fully sustainable Earth’, which includes creating and adding a renewable source of energy to existing grids, an increase in the production of electric vehicles with the help of AI, a new video of Tesla’s Robot, an idea of building electrified planes and boats and more.

However, despite having big plans for the future, Tesla’s present stance remains marred by a range of malfunctions, recalls and investigations.

Reportedly, Tesla is currently under investigation (read here) by The National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for two seatbelt failures observed in the company’s newer Model X, which could affect around 50,000 vehicles. Complaints from the Model X owners claim that the front seatbelts kept separating while driving. Excerpts from the investigation read “both vehicles were delivered to the owners with insufficiently connected anchor linkages.”

Other recalls include different seatbelt-related issues recalling 24,000 Model 3 vehicles, vehicles on Autopilot crashing into stationary emergency vehicles, absence of taillights and warning noise.

A lot of these issues were fixed with free over-the-air software updates, and thus calling them recalls irked Musk, who tweeted, “Definitely. The word “recall” for an over-the-air software update is anachronistic and just flat wrong!”

So far, Elon Musk has fulfilled many promises and certainly has good ideas for the future, although present issues need quick resolutions.
