Swedish Autonomous Trucking Firm Einride Raises $100 Million To Grow Globally

Autonomous mobility has become the talk of the automotive town.

It’s not just robotaxis or private self-driving cars that are all the rage in the sector; autonomous trucking has become a popular topic of discussion—well, not just discussion.

In the United States, Aurora Innovation has been powering the way forward in this emerging sector, with partnerships, significant growth, and safety-oriented moves.

However, today’s news comes from across the Atlantic Ocean, as Swedish transport and autonomous trucking company Einride AB made a huge announcement.

The company revealed that it raised about $100 million in funding from a mix of existing and new investors. Investors include EQT Ventures, one of Einride’s largest shareholders, which hails from the US, alongside other investors and shareholders.

As per a report, the funding raise took Einride’s valuation to $1 billion, over 2x what it was in 2021—$469 million.

The investment also includes investments made by IonQ earlier in the year, which looked to develop quantum applications capable of solving large-scale logistics problems.

Einride, which describes itself as a technology company that provides digital, electric, and autonomous solutions for road freight, will use this funding to power the next phase of its growth—the expansion of its customer base, the deployment of its autonomous freight solutions, and the deepening of its technology development.

“I am excited and proud for the continued trust our investors have placed in us,” said Roozbeh Charli, CEO of Einride. “This funding allows us to grow with our customer base and accelerate the deployment of our autonomous freight technology. It’s a strong signal of confidence in both our team and our unique position in the market.”


Einride is credited with developing and operating a new freight ecosystem that encompasses one of the world’s largest fleets of heavy-duty electric trucks, cutting-edge autonomous technology, and its proprietary Saga planning optimization platform, which combines advanced digital planning with electric and autonomous vehicles.

This helps curb fragmentation, high emissions, and labor shortages in the freight industry.

In 2024, Einride witnessed its net sales more than double, growing into Austria and the UAE, with shippers coming from Europe and North America.

A few days ago, Einride announced a historic milestone: it successfully conducted a cross-border operation of a cabless electric autonomous truck without a human driver onboard, taking place at the Ørje border crossing.

It marked the world-first cabless electric autonomous crossing of a country's border, which plays an important role in the European Union’s co-founded MODI project. The project aims to safely deploy heavy-duty self-driving transportation vehicles for a wide range of market applications, improve the transport and logistics industry, and introduce Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility (CCAM) solutions.

The achievement was a joint effort between Swedish and Norwegian project partners, including Statens Vegvesen, Sintef, Q-Free, Trafikverket and Østfold kommune, and was carried out on behalf of PostNord, which annually ships around 200 million parcels across the Nordic region.
