Spotify Expands Beyond Streaming With AI Podcasts, Audiobooks, Reserved Concert Tickets, And Music Creation Tools!
Updated on Fri, May 22, 2026
TL;DR
- Spotify launched AI podcast, audiobook, and music creation tools as part of its expanding audio ecosystem.
- The company introduced Reserved, giving select Premium superfans early access to concert tickets before public sales.
- Spotify’s latest updates focus on making podcasts, audiobooks, and fan experiences more interactive and personalized.
Studio By Spotify Labs
One of the biggest announcements is Studio by Spotify Labs, a desktop app that creates personalized AI-generated podcasts using emails, calendars, notes, and web information. Users can generate custom audio briefings for schedules, travel plans, dinner recommendations, and more through simple prompts. Spotify said the Research Preview will roll out to select users aged 18 and above across more than 20 markets.
Real-Time AI Podcast Questions
The company is also adding real-time podcast interaction for Premium mobile users in the U.S., Sweden, and Ireland. Listeners can now ask questions about podcasts while watching or listening and receive instant answers inside the app. Spotify says the feature is designed to help users better understand topics and discover related recommendations without leaving the platform.
Audiobooks With AI Tools

Audiobooks are getting a major update as well. Spotify announced new Audiobooks+ plans with extra listening hours, Family and Student options, and discovery tools that recommend books by topic or author. The platform is also launching audiobook creation tools powered by ElevenLabs to help self-published authors create audiobooks more easily. At launch, the feature will support English only and be available in select markets.
Topics For More Insights:
Reserved Concert Tickets For Superfans
Spotify also introduced Reserved, a new feature for eligible Premium subscribers in the U.S. that gives superfans access to reserved concert tickets before public sales begin. The company said it will identify dedicated fans through streams, shares, and Spotify activity to help reduce scalping and improve access for real listeners.
Licensed AI Music Creation Tool By Spotify And Universal Music Group
In another major move, Spotify and Universal Music Group announced licensing agreements for a new AI-powered tool that allows fans to create licensed covers and remixes from participating artists. The feature will launch as a paid add-on for Premium users, while artists and songwriters will earn revenue from fan-created tracks.
With these updates, Spotify is showing that its future plans go far beyond music streaming, focusing instead on building a broader audio and creator ecosystem.
