Samsung Launches Galaxy Z TriFold, Its First Multi-Folding Smartphone
Updated on Tue, Dec 2, 2025
The Galaxy Z TriFold unfolds twice to open into three panels that reveal an immersive 10-inch display or 9.9 inches when considering its rounded corners, with an average of 4 mm thickness across three panels (3.9 + 4.2 + 4.0 mm).
It builds on the company's decade-long experience of foldable category innovation, bringing users ultra performance, premium experience, and portability through its slim profile.
It also comes packed with Galaxy AI goodness.
The phone is expected to be available in Korea from December 12, 2025, with other markets following soon, including China, Taiwan, Singapore, the UAE and the United States. It will be offered at select retail stores. Pricing starts at 3,594,000 South Korean won ($2,449), but is set to cost $2,500 in the U.S.
“Galaxy Z TriFold now expands the boundaries of what’s possible for mobile work, creativity and connection,” said TM Roh, CEO, President and Head of Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics.
Galaxy Z TriFold Features
The Galaxy Z TriFold’s main screen 10-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display features a resolution of 2160 x 1584, with a 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and 269 ppi 1600 nits peak brightness. When folded, its cover screen boasts a 6.5-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 2520 x 1080, 21:9 aspect ratio, 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate, and 422 ppi 2600 nits peak brightness.
It’s 12.9 mm thick when folded, and when unfolded, its slimmest point measures just 3.9 mm (screen with the SIM tray), with a 4.2 mm-thick center screen, and a 4.0 mm screen that houses a side button.
Powered by Android 16 One UI 8 on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy (3 nm) and backed by a mighty 5,600 mAh three-cell battery system that can charge up to 50% in around 30 minutes, the remains quite light, weighing in at just 309 grams.
The phone features two differently sized titanium hinges with a dual-rail structure and advanced materials used on the exterior, including a frame of advanced armor aluminum. Each device undergoes a series of strict quality checks and is designed to deliver the best user experience possible, which Samsung proudly shows off in a ’making of’ video.
Users are presented with memory/storage options spanning 16 GB/1 TB (internal) and 16 GB/512 GB, but no support for MicroSD memory.
Connectivity includes 5G, LTE, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth v5.4, and up to two nano SIMs and multi eSIM.
Cameras consist of three on the rear—200 MP Wide-Angle (2x zoom), 12 MP Ultra-Wide, and 10 MP Telephoto Camera (30x Space Zoom)—and two on the front—a 10 MP camera on each, cover and main screen.
Currently, it comes in only one color: Crafted Black.
“Samsung’s relentless pursuit of new possibilities continues to shape the future of mobile experiences,” added TM Roh. “Through years of innovation in foldable form factors, Galaxy Z TriFold solves one of the mobile industry’s longest-standing challenges—delivering the perfect balance between portability, premium performance and productivity all in one device.”
Samsung isn’t the first smartphone manufacturer to introduce a trifold smartphone, as Huawei unveiled the HUAWEI Mate XT in September 2024, with a release date of September 20.
Trifold is a bit misleading, as the phones fold twice, not thrice. However, they do sport three screen panels.
This phone offers a 10.2-inch screen and a thickness of 3.6 millimeters when unfolded, along with other features that can still contend with Samsung’s latest smartphone.
What do you think of Samsung’s new Galaxy Z TriFold? Do you think it will be able to beat Xiaomi’s trifold smartphone?
