A major milestone for PayPal World is the first-ever seamless connection between PayPal and Venmo, allowing users to send money to each other across borders. This expands peer-to-peer payments and links Venmo’s social features with PayPal’s global network.


By 2026, Venmo users will also be able to shop online and in-store at millions of PayPal-accepting merchants, giving businesses access to Venmo’s younger, digitally savvy audience.

However, that’s not all, as its other initial launch partners include Mercado Pago, NPCI International Payments Limited (UPI), PayPal, Tenpay Global, and Venmo.

This move is expected to reshape global financial access and cross-border payments in several ways. PayPal World is built for real-world, everyday cross-border transactions, enabling use cases such as:
 

• A PayPal user visiting China can pay at a local café that accepts Weixin Pay, just by opening the PayPal app and scanning the QR code.

• An Indian shopper using UPI can buy sneakers from a U.S. website by selecting the familiar UPI option at checkout.

• A Venmo user in the U.S. can send money to a friend in Germany by entering their phone number and choosing their PayPal wallet.
