We bet you’ve heard of Open AI – yes, the people who gave us ChatGPT!

However, it is quickly becoming the AI equivalent of The Avengers; protecting ethical development and practices in the field of Artificial Intelligence.

That's right, the company's new team will be working on theoretical and practical aspects of AI alignment, such as identifying the causes and consequences of misalignment, creating effective mechanisms for providing feedback to AI systems and conducting rigorous experiments to ensure that current and future AI models are properly calibrated.

Analytics Insights stated that Open AI dedicated to preventing the creation of a superintelligent AI. Since there is currently no tried-and-true method for managing and directing a potentially superintelligent AI, preventative steps are urgently required.

Superalignment – the name of the new team – plans to assemble a group of leading experts in machine learning to create an AI that is "roughly human-level automated alignment researcher" in charge of performing quality assurance tests on advanced AI systems.

OpenAI said it’s “dedicating 20% of the compute we've secured to date over the next four years to solving the problem of superintelligence alignment. Our chief basic research bet is our new Superalignment team, but getting this right is critical to achieve our mission and we expect many teams to contribute, from developing new methods to scaling them up to deployment.”

While OpenAI assumes its superhero cape to fight rogue AI, here are the crucial details:

  • What are the main issues that OpenAI plans to address?

The group plans to work with AI ethicists, policymakers and social scientists, among others, to promote an environment where responsible and trustworthy AI is developed. The potential for AI systems to surpass human intelligence and capability and to form preferences and purposes that are inimical to human well-being is one of the biggest obstacles the team will have to overcome.

  • How is Open AI pioneering new approaches to AI security?

Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to be both a boon and a bane for humanity. Some of the world's foremost AI researchers express concern that AI would threaten human existence and urge swift action to guarantee the technology is safe.

Over three hundred fifty AI experts, including the heads of significant and cutting-edge AI research organizations, contributed to the study. Among other societal-scale hazards, such as pandemics and nuclear war, "mitigating the risk of extinction from A.I. should be a global priority," the open letter states.

Can OpenAI tame the rogue AI forces and create a harmonious AI-human alliance? Is this necessary or is rogue AI a false alarm? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!
