NVIDIA Launches Isaac GR00T Humanoid Robot With “Body + Brain” System!
Updated on Mon, Jun 1, 2026
TL;DR
- NVIDIA launches Isaac GR00T humanoid robot for robotics research.
- The platform combines hardware, AI compute, and software to speed up robot training and testing.
- It will be used by top research institutes, with rollout via Unitree in late 2026.
NVIDIA has introduced the Isaac GR00T Reference Humanoid Robot, an open “body + brain” system built for academic and research use. The platform combines Unitree H2 Plus humanoid hardware, Sharpa five-finger dexterous hands, NVIDIA Jetson Thor compute, and the Isaac GR00T software stack into a single integrated setup for building and testing humanoid robots.
The idea behind the system is to reduce fragmentation in robotics development. Instead of using separate tools for simulation, training, and deployment, researchers get a unified platform that supports the entire workflow. This allows faster progress from building a robot to training it, testing it, and running it in real-world conditions.
The system also includes real-time AI computing through Jetson AGX Thor, enabling faster decision-making on the robot itself. Alongside this, the Isaac GR00T platform provides tools for teleoperation, simulation, model training, and deployment, giving researchers a complete development environment.
Topics For More Insights:
Leading institutions such as Stanford Robotics Center, ETH Zurich, UC San Diego’s Advanced Robotics and Controls Laboratory, and Ai2 will use the reference design to advance humanoid robotics research and physical AI systems. NVIDIA says the goal is to make humanoid development more accessible through an open and standardized platform.
The Isaac GR00T Reference Humanoid Robot is expected to be available via Unitree in late 2026, while supporting developer workflows will begin rolling out soon through open platforms like GitHub and Hugging Face.
