Netflix has launched Netflix Playground, a standalone app for kids’ games that is included with a regular Netflix subscription. The app is designed for children ages 8 and under, has no ads or in-app purchases, and is rolling out first in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Australia, the Philippines, and New Zealand on iOS and Android.
In its official announcement, Netflix framed Playground as part of a broader expansion of its kids entertainment lineup. The company said it wants to make Netflix a curated space where children are entertained, engaged, and enriched, while parents get added confidence through parental controls and a high-quality, curated environment.
TL;DR
- Netflix Playground is a new standalone kids gaming app included with all Netflix memberships.
- It is built for children ages 8 and under, with no ads, no in-app purchases, and no extra fees.
- The app launches in six markets first, with the rest of the world scheduled for April 28.
What Playground Includes
Netflix Playground gives children access to an ever-growing library of kids games and is being introduced as a dedicated app rather than a feature inside Netflix’s main video product. Netflix said the app can be downloaded to a smartphone or tablet, and that every activity is instantly playable and available offline.
The launch lineup is built around recognizable children’s characters and brands. Netflix highlighted games and activities tied to Playtime With Peppa Pig, Sesame Street, Dr. Seuss’s Horton!, StoryBots, and Dr. Seuss’s The Sneetches.
Across those titles, children can do activities such as caring for guinea pigs, driving a bus, making a smoothie, practicing matching with memory cards, using connect-the-dots, exploring cause-and-effect play, and trying puzzles and sticker-book scenes.
How Netflix Is Positioning The App
John Derderian, Netflix Vice President of Animation Series + Kids & Family TV, said Netflix is building a world where kids can step inside favorite stories and interact with favorite characters. He added that the company is creating “a seamless destination for discovery, learning, and play.”
That positioning places Playground within Netflix’s wider kids and family strategy, instead of treating it as a separate gaming experiment. The company is presenting the app as a simple, parent-friendly way for children to watch, learn, and play within the broader Netflix ecosystem.

What Else Netflix Announced
The official Netflix announcement also tied the Playground launch to a wider kids content push. Alongside the app, Netflix announced the preschool series Young MacDonald, renewals for Trash Truck and The Creature Cases, and more kids programming connected to Ms. Rachel, Sesame Street, Dr. Seuss, CoComelon Lane, and Mark Rober’s CrunchLabs.
That means the news is not only that Netflix has released a kids gaming app, but also that it is packaging games, shows, and returning favorites together under one broader kids entertainment update.
