Here’s what Markets Insider had to say about this breakthrough AI solution:

On Tuesday, July 18th, Microsoft introduced a new offering for its Microsoft 365 corporate subscribers, sending the stock price of Microsoft up by as much as 6 percent!

Copilot boasts a set of features powered by artificial intelligence, designed to work with Microsoft's 365 package (which includes, among other things, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Teams). The addition of AI-powered Copilot to a company's Microsoft software suite will cost $30 per user per month.

Microsoft's market value rose by as much as $154 billion, as stocks ballooned by 6 percent on Tuesday as investors applauded the decision and the company's product pricing. On Tuesday, Microsoft shares reached a new all-time high of $366.78 and were headed towards its highest ever closing price. The entire market valuation of Morgan Stanley, Intel, Honeywell and another 450 companies in the S&P 500 would be less than the one-day increase in Microsoft’s stock. #Shocked?

Microsoft 365 E3, which currently costs $36 per month, could nearly double in price for consumers who purchase the Copilot add-on, which costs $30 per month. When added to Microsoft 365 Business Standard, Copilot nearly triples the monthly cost from $12.50 to $32.50.

Naturally, businesses were speculating about Microsoft's ultimate goals with Copilot. Will it be the one to help businesses paper over the difficult patches in productivity and efficiency through AI automation?

The story, as reported by CNBC and Yahoo Finance, has the answers:

Microsoft seems to be promoting the Copilot with AI because...?

Microsoft claims that its Copilot product, which is driven by AI, would speed up document summarization, email writing and Excel data analysis for its customers. Microsoft claims that early customers have responded favorably so far.

“The more our customers use Copilot, the more enthusiastic they get about it,” Microsoft's chief of consumer marketing Yusuf Mehdi said in a blog post, adding that "soon, no one will want to work without it."

How is Microsoft monetizing its artificial intelligence services?

Wedbush analyst Dan Ives believes that Microsoft has a massive potential to monetize its AI capabilities as the company has a head start over its competitors and has a large base of users.

"We believe over the next three years, over 50% of its Microsoft installed base will ultimately be on this AI functionality for the enterprise/commercial which changes the game for Nadella and company," Ives said in a note released on Tuesday.

In January of this year, Microsoft spent $10 billion to acquire a 49% share in OpenAI, a startup that is making strides in the field of artificial intelligence. We mean, have you heard of ChatGPT?

Since then, the company's artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities have been built into Bing Search and the introduction of Copilot for Office 365 is just the latest example of this trend.
