Meta Launches Prescription-Ready Ray-Ban AI Glasses For Everyday Use

Meta is taking a significant step toward making smart glasses more practical for daily wear by introducing two new Ray-Ban Meta models designed specifically for prescription users.

These glasses are built to support nearly all prescriptions while maintaining comfort for extended use.

Starting at $499, the new lineup will be available for pre-order in the US and arrive at optical retailers beginning April 14, with a broader international rollout planned.

The collection includes two distinct styles. The Blayzer features a rectangular design offered in standard and large sizes, while the Scriber delivers a softer, rounded frame. Both models emphasize wearability, aiming to replace traditional prescription glasses rather than complement them.

Meta highlights that these are its most comfortable smart glasses yet, designed for all-day use. Features such as flexible overextension hinges, interchangeable nose pads, and optician-adjustable temple tips ensure a more personalized fit.

The company stated, “Our newest Ray-Ban Meta glasses are built to better serve people who rely on prescription glasses and all-day eyewear,” reinforcing its push toward mainstream adoption.

Meta Expands Smart Glasses With New Colors, Lenses, And AI Features

Alongside the new prescription-focused models, Meta is refreshing its broader smart glasses lineup with new seasonal styles and upgraded AI capabilities.

New Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 frame options include transparent peach and grey finishes paired with Transitions lenses in brown, grey, and sapphire tones. Oakley Meta glasses are also getting expanded variants, featuring combinations like Prizm Black, Prizm Rose Gold, and Transitions Ember lenses.

These updates are not just cosmetic. Meta is layering in new AI-driven features that deepen the functionality of its glasses. One standout addition is hands-free nutrition tracking, where users can log meals using voice commands or quick photos. Meta AI then extracts key details and builds a personalized food log over time.

Communication features are also evolving. Users in the Early Access Program can now request WhatsApp summaries by saying, “Hey Meta, catch me up on my messages,” or ask for specific details from conversations. Meta notes that these interactions are processed on-device with end-to-end encryption to maintain privacy.

Another notable upgrade is Neural Handwriting, which allows users to write responses with their finger on any surface. This enables silent message replies across platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, and standard mobile messaging apps.

Together, these additions signal Meta’s intent to move beyond novelty and position its smart glasses as a core computing device for everyday life.

As competition in AI wearables intensifies, Meta’s latest push suggests a clear strategy, blending personalization, accessibility, and deeper AI integration to bring smart glasses closer to mainstream adoption.
