Meta Enhances Real-Time News, Account Support & Facebook Content Capabilities
Updated on Thu, Dec 11, 2025
In its latest efforts, Meta is introducing improvements to Facebook that bring users a smarter and cleaner Feed with streamlined navigation. The idea is to make browsing simpler and more immersive, making it easier for users to enjoy content they actually care about, as well as connect with others over shared interests.
“Facebook’s focus has always been to make it easy to stay close to the people and things you love,” said Meta in a news release.
This includes bringing the most used and user-favorite features, such as Reels, Friends, Marketplace, and Profile, to the front and center of their tab bar. It will also sport a refreshed menu design and cleaner tab notifications for the latest updates.
Search results will show more content using a grid layout across content types, while a new full-screen viewer allows users to explore different photo and video results without losing their place in search. Meta plans to expand this feature to more content and post types soon.
Users can share feedback about why they don’t like a certain Facebook post or Reel, with new ways to customize feeds and provide feedback on algorithms in the coming months.
The new look and feel will also simplify content creation.
Meta said it redesigned the way users can create Stories and Feed posts by bringing the most popular tools, such as adding music and tagging friends, to a more easily accessible location, allowing creators to produce content with minimal distractions.
Commenting across Feed, Groups, and Reels has also been made easier through streamlined replies, prominent badging, and new pinning tools. New and expanded controls will help group admins and creators monitor conversations, while bringing access to everyone to anonymously flag comments.
The new improvements will also make it easier for Facebook users to find people with similar interests and discover friends who share passions or have useful advice.
“These improvements are just the beginning in making Facebook less cluttered and easier to use, so you can focus on the people and interests you care the most about. Stay tuned for more updates in 2026,” concluded the release.
Meta is also releasing new and easier ways to get account support and help users keep their Facebook and Instagram accounts even more secure by using artificial intelligence (AI).
This includes a new, centralized hub on Facebook and Instagram that brings support tools and options into one place. These new updates come to Facebook and Instagram users on iOS and Android globally. Furthermore, Meta is testing an AI support assistant for instant, personalized help.
To enable faster and simpler account recovery, Meta is making it easier to find recovery, with the option showing up “at the right times” with smarter, adaptive recovery flows.
These improvements have already seen Meta increase the relative success rate of hacked account recovery by more than 30% in the US and Canada.
It also adds to Meta’s current security capabilities, including a security checkup, Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), and passkeys such as fingerprint, face, and device PIN.
Ahead of this, Meta is introducing a wider variety of real-time content on Meta AI, which will include global, breaking news, entertainment, lifestyle stories, and more.
When a user asks Meta AI news-related questions, they’ll receive information and links from more diverse content sources.
The move comes with a host of new partnerships with CNN, Fox News, Fox Sports, Le Monde Group, the People Inc. portfolio of media brands, The Daily Caller, The Washington Examiner, USA TODAY and the USA TODAY Network.
Meta plans to add new partnerships and new features on this front.
Do you think such improvements will boost app usage and enhance user experiences, or will the confusion of changing interfaces cause chaos?
