Meta Connect Debuts The Meta Ray-Ban Display Smart Glasses & Meta Neural Band

Among the most anticipated and coveted technology events stands Meta Connect.

This event serves as Meta’s annual developer conference and as a platform to showcase its latest hardware advancements and products.

Meta 2025, which is scheduled to be held on September 17 and 18, kicked off with a riveting keynote speech by the company’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, along with DJ and music producer Diplo.

The first day of the event highlighted what’s new with Meta, parading a long list of new and upgraded products.

Among these were the new Meta Ray-Ban Display smart glasses, which came with new features and capabilities, as well as a partnering device—the Meta Neural Band—which, combined, are described as “the next evolution in AI glasses.”

Just to clarify, the Meta Ray-Ban Display smart glasses come with the Meta Neural Band, which is an EMG wristband that allows users to control their experience by using subtle hand movements, all without having to take out their phone or touch their smart glasses.

As per Meta, EMG wristbands, AKA surface electromyography, measure muscle activity at the wrist from electrical signals based on a user's intended action. These signals are translated into digital commands using machine learning (ML) technology, which makes the device a "fast and powerful input.”

“Meta Neural Band is so effortless, it makes interacting with your glasses feel like magic,” says Meta, who shared this visionary technology four years ago. After years of research that roped in nearly 200,000 research participants, Meta finally unveiled the technology through the Meta Neural Band.


Coming back to the new smart glasses, Meta Ray-Ban Display offers a full-color, high-resolution display that’s placed to the side of the lens to avoid disrupting a user’s view and can be turned on and off as per the user’s convenience. It’s designed for short interactions, ensuring it isn’t on all the time.

The “stylish and comfortable” glasses make use of microphones, speakers, cameras, and a full-color display powered by compute and artificial intelligence (AI).

Features span the ability to get answers using Meta AI; privately view text and multimedia messages from WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, and their phone; enjoy live video calls from WhatsApp and Messenger; a camera with a real-time viewfinder and zoom function; detailed phone-free navigation, live captions and live language (select) translations, and even music playback.

Meta promises that the smart glasses are durable, can be worn indoors and outdoors and during the day and night—thanks to Transitions lenses, and up to six hours of mixed-use battery life and up to 30 hours of total battery life courtesy of a portable and collapsible charging case.

“Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses are designed to help you look up and stay present,” says Meta. “With a quick glance at the in-lens display, you can check messages, preview photos, see translations, get help from Meta AI, and more—all without needing to pull out your phone. It’s technology that keeps you tuned in to the world around you, not distracted from it.”

The duo comes in three sizes, two frame sizes (standard and large) and two colors (Black and Sand).

They will be available to purchase in the U.S. from September 30, 2025, with a starting price of $799, coming to limited brick-and-mortar retailers in the US, including Best Buy, LensCrafters, Sunglass Hut, and Ray-Ban Stores. Select Verizon stores will follow soon after. However, users can book an in-person demo to “try them out, get fitted, and pick the right pair.”

As for other countries—Canada, France, Italy, and the UK—the product is planned for an early 2026 release.

With the introduction of this new pair, Meta's AI glasses now fall under three distinct categories—Camera AI Glasses, Augmented Reality Glasses, and Display AI Glasses—which forms the new category.

“Today marks the start of the next chapter, not only for AI glasses, but for the future of wearable technology,” concluded Meta’s news release.
