Elon Musk is in the news again and once again, Twitter. Although, it might be the last time Twitter is in the news as it doesn’t exist anymore! Don’t worry, it didn’t stop operations, Musk just changed its name.

Again, we’re not talking about his recent antics around changing “Twitter” to “Titter” by removing the ‘W’, which was reinstated due to legal requirements.

Yet, Musk found a loophole allowing him to retain the changed version, of which he shared a photo and tweeted, “Our landlord at SF HQ says we’re legally required to keep sign as Twitter & cannot remove “w”, so we painted it background color. Problem solved!”

We’re talking about how Twitter has legally been merged into X Corp (not the X Corp in the X-Men comics). That’s right! The name change was noticed in a legal document relating to a lawsuit against Twitter and Facebook. The document states, “Twitter, Inc. has been merged into X Corp. and no longer exists.”

X Corp is Elon Musk’s attempt at a “super app”, one that offers numerous functions on a single platform and Twitter may soon be one of the offered features under that platform.

However, this time, Musk’s move may actually be genius, as super apps are a huge industry in China and even South America, for example, China’s WeChat has over 1.3 billion monthly active users!

Surely, you’ve heard of the term “super app” before, probably because various tech companies have explored the idea, including Uber, Spotify, PayPal, Snap and Block.

Speaking about the success of super apps, Musk said, “And, you know, if I think of, like, WeChat in China, which is actually a great, great app, but there’s no WeChat movement outside of China. And I think that there’s a real opportunity to create that. You basically live on WeChat in China because it’s so useful and so helpful to your daily life. And I think if we could achieve that, or even close to that with Twitter, it would be an immense success.”

Musk also said he had "a pretty grand vision" for X Corp. as "something that would be very useful to the world."
