Let's dive into the news and decipher what AWS is up to!
AWS expanded its Amazon Transcribe product to support over 100 languages, giving users access to generative AI-based transcriptions and a host of other AI features.
Amazon Transcribe has expanded its language recognition capabilities and added the ability to quickly generate call transcripts, as revealed at the recent AWS re:Invent event. Users of Amazon Web Services (AWS) can include Transcribe's speech-to-text functionality into their AWS Cloud applications with the latest update.
With the help of self-supervised algorithms, Amazon Transcribe has learned patterns of human speech in various languages and dialects using "millions of hours of unlabeled audio data from over 100 languages," according to a blog post by the business. According to AWS, it made sure that less-spoken languages could be just as accurate as more-spoken ones by preventing some from being over-represented in the training data.
Additionally, the service provides features such as automated punctuation, language detection, custom vocabulary filters and a user-defined vocabulary. Even in very noisy settings, it can decipher spoken language in video and audio files.

So, What Can Amazon Transcribe’s AI-powered Service Offer?
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced that its Call Analytics product, which is used by many contact centre clients, benefits from improved language identification thanks to advancements made with Amazon Transcribe. With the addition of generative AI models, Amazon Transcribe Call Analytics can now summarize agent-customer interactions as well. According to AWS, this makes it easier to generate reports after the call has ended and managers can get the information they need without having to read the whole transcript.
Similar to how streaming services might propose new content outreach based on prior behavior, AWS has introduced new features for its Amazon Personalization offering, which enables clients to offer products or display suggestions to consumers. Amazon Web Services (AWS) now has Content Generation, which can create subject lines or headlines for emails to link recommendation lists based on themes.
Software developer Carbyne has created cloud-based, mission-critical contact centre solutions for first responders to emergency calls using the product; this transcription service is used in a real-world setting. Language barriers are eliminated, helping in Carbyne's commitment to assist first responders in saving lives. The usage of Amazon Transcribe helped further their objective and Alex Dizengof, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Carbyne, said, “AI-powered Carbyne Live Audio Translation is directly aimed at helping improve emergency response for the 68 million Americans who speak a language other than English at home, in addition to the up to 79 million foreign visitors to the country annually. By leveraging Amazon Transcribe’s new multilingual foundation model powered ASR, Carbyne will be even better equipped to democratize life-saving emergency services, because Every. Person. Counts.”
As AWS leverages the power of Gen AI to boost their transcription platform, will it automate the work of call center agents? Where else do you expect Amazon Transcribe to be used with its new Gen AI-powered speech-to-text service?
