Google And Reliance Join Forces To Supercharge AI Access Across India
Updated on Fri, Oct 31, 2025
OpenAI recently announced that ChatGPT Go will be available free for one year to users in India, giving millions access to advanced conversational AI at no cost.
Around the same time, Bharti Airtel launched Airtel Cloud, a sovereign, telco-grade cloud platform built in India, capable of handling up to 140 crore transactions per minute and powered by GenAI-based provisioning for smarter, sustainable operations.
The platform promises to help Indian enterprises harness AI and cloud technology while ensuring data stays within national borders, a key step toward digital self-reliance.
Well, now, another major player has joined the movement. In a major move set to fast-track India’s AI revolution, Google and Reliance have joined hands to make cutting-edge AI tools accessible to millions of Jio users across the country.
As part of this collaboration, Jio’s Unlimited 5G plan subscribers will get Google’s AI Pro plan, featuring the powerful Gemini 2.5 Pro model and is completely free for 18 months.
The rollout will start with young users aged 18 to 25, before expanding to all eligible Jio customers nationwide. With this, Google and Reliance are kicking off one of India’s biggest AI access initiatives yet by combining Jio’s massive telecom reach with Google’s advanced AI ecosystem.
Under this offer, users can experience the Gemini 2.5 Pro model inside the Gemini app, Google’s most capable conversational AI so far. They will also be able to create images and videos using Google’s Nano Banana and Veo 3.1 models, which represent the company’s latest breakthroughs in generative AI.

For students and professionals, the bundle includes NotebookLM, Google’s AI-powered research and note-taking assistant that can summarize, analyze, and organize information effortlessly, making studying or working a whole lot easier.
It doesn’t stop there. Google is also throwing in 2 TB of cloud storage across Photos, Gmail, and Drive including storage for WhatsApp backups on Android, taking the total value of the plan to roughly ₹35,100. Eligible users can activate the offer directly through the MyJio app.
“We’re excited to expand access to our most powerful AI models to more people across India,” Google said in a statement. “We can’t wait to see how these tools help people in their daily lives.”
This partnership signals a clear shift: AI is becoming a part of everyday digital life. For Jio, it’s another step toward turning its 5G service into a platform for AI-powered creativity, productivity, and communication.
In a country where affordability often determines how fast new technology spreads, this move could be a true game changer, giving millions of Indians free access to next-gen AI tools that were once reserved for paid users.
If all goes well, the Google–Reliance partnership might just become a blueprint for how tech and telecom giants can work together to make AI accessible for everyone.
Could this be the move that finally brings AI into every Indian’s daily life?
