Recently, OpenAI released their text-to-video generator, Sora, while ElevenLabs launched their text-to-sound model.
Ahead of this, AI company Mistral announced the launch of its new cutting-edge text generation model, Mistral Large, as well as a tie-up with Microsoft, which is a key investor in OpenAI, Mistral’s rival.
On the other hand, Google rebranded its Bard model to Gemini and introduced the world to three models under the Gemini umbrella, which includes Ultra, Pro and Nano. Furthermore, Google unveiled more projects as it launched the next chapter of its products.
Keeping up with the trend comes Anthropic, the company behind Claude, with an announcement highlighting the company’s latest offering!
So, what’s new with Anthropic? Let’s explore!
What Did Anthropic Announce?
-
“Today, we're announcing the Claude 3 model family, which sets new industry benchmarks across a wide range of cognitive tasks,” read the news release that was published on Anthropic’s website announcing the introduction of the next generation of Claude.
-
The Claude 3 family includes three state-of-the-art models named Claude 3 Haiku, Claude 3 Sonnet and Claude 3 Opus (in ascending order of capability).
-
As per the company, each successive model brings with it “increasingly powerful performance, allowing users to select the optimal balance of intelligence, speed, and cost for their specific application.”
-
Currently, the Opus and Sonnet models are now generally available in 159 countries to be used in claude.ai and the API.
What Does Claude 3 Offer?
-
According to the company, its new models bring in a new standard for intelligence, with its Opus model outperforming competitors and its peers on most of the common evaluation benchmarks for AI systems.
-
These include undergraduate level expert knowledge (MMLU), graduate level expert reasoning (GPQA), basic mathematics (GSM8K) and more.
-
The models also bring Near-instant results, which make it ideal for live customer chats, auto-completions and data extraction tasks that require immediate and real-time responses.
-
The models’ strong vision capabilities possess sophisticated vision capabilities that can process a wide range of visual formats, including photos, charts, graphs and technical diagrams.
-
They even come with the capability to accept long context (accepting inputs exceeding 1 million tokens) and near-perfect recall, which is further enhanced by the increased accuracy that the models offer.
-
With the new models, users are less likely to face refusals to answer prompts, especially with the improvements that ensure the models are easier to use and be as trustworthy as they can be.
What Do The Models Cost?
-
Claude 3 Opus (the most intelligent model) comes in at $15 (input $/million tokens) and $75 (output $/million tokens).
-
Claude 3 Sonnet (balanced between intelligence and speed) comes for $3 (input $/million tokens) and $15 (output $/million tokens).
-
Claude 3 Haiku (the fastest and most compact model) is for $0.25 (input $/million tokens) and $1.25 (output $/million tokens).
