Generative artificial intelligence has crossed a striking threshold in music streaming, with Deezer reporting that fully AI-generated tracks exceeded half of its daily new music deliveries at peak levels in June 2026.

The milestone has pushed the French streaming platform to expand its response, moving beyond detection and labeling to remove AI tracks linked to streaming fraud or prolonged inactivity.

TL;DR

  • Deezer received nearly 90,000 fully AI-generated tracks per day on average in June 2026.
  • AI music crossed 50% of new daily uploads at peak levels, up from 44% in April.
  • Deezer will remove fraudulent AI tracks and those with no streams for at least six months.
  • AI tracks generate only 1% to 3% of total listening, with much of that activity flagged as fraudulent.

AI Music Uploads Surge On Deezer

According to Deezer, fully AI-generated music represented more than 50% of all new tracks delivered to the platform on peak days in June.

The monthly average reached nearly 90,000 AI tracks per day, compared with around 75,000 daily tracks, or 44% of uploads, reported in April 2026.

TechCrunch highlighted the speed of the increase, noting that Deezer detected about 10,000 AI-generated tracks per day in January 2025. That figure rose to 20,000 in April 2025, 50,000 in November 2025 and 60,000 in January 2026 before reaching the latest level.

“Now that half of all daily uploads are AI-generated tracks, we are taking additional steps to safeguard the rights of artists and songwriters,” said Deezer CEO Alexis Lanternier, as quoted in the company’s official announcement.

Deezer Targets Fraudulent And Unheard AI Tracks

Deezer said it will systematically take down generative AI tracks used to create fraudulent streams.

It will also remove AI-generated tracks that have not received a stream for six months or longer, aiming to reduce catalog clutter and limit royalty-pool dilution.

Music Business Worldwide reported that AI-generated music currently represents only 1% to 3% of all streams on Deezer. However, the platform found that up to 85% of streams associated with fully AI-generated tracks were fraudulent in 2025, compared with 8% across its full catalog.

The company already excludes detected AI tracks from algorithmic recommendations and editorial playlists. It also removes fraudulent streams from royalty calculations, meaning those plays do not generate payments.

How Deezer Detects AI Music

Deezer has operated its proprietary detection technology since January 2025 and says the system identifies artifacts left by generative music models, including Suno and Udio.

The company claims 99.8% detection accuracy, with fewer than one false positive for every 10,000 human-made tracks.

The streamer detected and tagged more than 13.4 million AI-generated tracks during 2025.

It also filed two patents covering methods used to distinguish synthetic audio from authentic recordings, with the applications published by European and United States patent offices in June 2026.

An Ipsos survey commissioned by Deezer, covering 9,000 people across eight countries, found that 97% could not distinguish AI-generated music from human-made tracks in a blind test, while 80% supported clear labeling.

With upload volumes accelerating faster than listening demand, Deezer’s latest policy suggests the industry’s challenge is no longer identifying whether AI music exists.

It is deciding how platforms should manage synthetic catalogs, prevent manipulation and protect human creators without blocking legitimate experimentation.
