In the last few weeks, technology conglomerates such as Google, Microsoft, Oracle, Amazon and others have taken significant steps towards enhancing their infrastructure to ensure they can provide capable services.
On the other hand, companies are partnering with such technology giants to boost their cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI) and generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) initiatives, as they look to streamline operations and boost productivity.
This is what The Coca-Cola Company is looking for from Microsoft, as the two announced their latest partnership.
So, what did the two companies say? Let’s explore!
What Did Microsoft And Coca-Cola Announce?
-
In a news release published on its website, Microsoft announced that it had struck up a five-year strategic partnership with The Coca-Cola Company.
-
The aim of the deal is “to help employees improve customer experiences, streamline operations, foster innovation, gain a competitive advantage, boost efficiency and uncover new growth opportunities.”
-
As per the release, the aim of the deal is to “align Coca-Cola’s core technology strategy systemwide, enable the adoption of leading-edge technology, and foster innovation and productivity globally”.
-
The move comes as Coca-Cola is investing towards enhancing its digital transformation initiatives.
-
Through the partnership, Coca-Cola committed $1.1 billion towards Microsoft Cloud and its generative AI capabilities.
-
The company has already migrated all its applications to Microsoft Azure as it focuses on leveraging Microsoft’s cloud and AI platforms, while other major independent bottling partners will follow soon.
-
Additionally, Coca-Cola will use solutions such as Microsoft 365, Power BI, Dynamics 365, Defender and Fabric, as it seeks to “enhance efficiency and scalability while fostering innovation across the system.”
-
The partnership will also see both companies jointly experiment with technology like Azure OpenAI Service to further enhance business functions and workplace productivity improvement using GenAI.
-
This deal builds on a previous one made in April 2020 to standardize business operations using Microsoft’s cloud to enhance experiences, provide innovative solutions and modernize engagements.
-
As per the release, Coca-Cola has been keen on AI adoption and innovation for nearly a year and “has already leveraged Azure OpenAI Service to reimagine everything from marketing to manufacturing and supply chain and beyond.”
What Did Stakeholders Say?
-
Judson Althoff, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Microsoft, said, “Through our long-term partnership, we have made significant progress to accelerate system-wide AI Transformation across The Coca-Cola Company and its network of independent bottlers worldwide.”
-
[Contd.] “We are proud to support Coca-Cola as it continues to embrace the era of AI and looks to solutions like Azure OpenAI Service and Copilot for Microsoft 365 to drive innovation across every area of its business.”
-
John Murphy, President and Chief Financial Officer of The Coca-Cola Company, said, “This new agreement builds on the success of Coca-Cola’s partnership strategy with Microsoft, showing our commitment to ongoing digital transformation ... Our partnership with Microsoft has grown exponentially, from the $250 million agreement we initially announced in 2020 to $1.1 billion today.”
