Apple’s next major AI move is less about one flashy feature and more about making its ecosystem feel smarter from end to end.
The company introduced the next generation of Apple Intelligence, powered by a new architecture that brings Apple Foundation Models deeper into its platforms. The goal is to make everyday apps more useful while keeping personal data protected through on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute.

The biggest shift may come through Siri AI, which Apple describes as an entirely new version of Siri.
The upgraded assistant is designed to be more conversational and personal, with a dedicated app and integrated tools for writing and Visual Intelligence. Siri AI can search across messages, emails, and other personal content, answer broader questions, and take action inside apps.
New Siri AI features are available for developer testing now and will arrive as a beta for users later this year. That timeline suggests Apple is still taking a staged approach, but the direction is clear: Siri is being rebuilt as a systemwide AI assistant rather than a voice-command tool that handles isolated tasks.
Safari, Passwords, And Shortcuts Get Practical AI Features
Apple Intelligence is also changing Safari with features aimed at reducing browser clutter and saving users time.
Safari can now organize tabs into relevant topics automatically. A user planning a weekend trip, for instance, could see travel-related tabs grouped together as Safari continues sorting new tabs into existing or new topics.
Another feature, Notify Me, lets Safari monitor a webpage for changes such as restocks or price drops. Users can describe what they want Safari to watch, and the browser sends a notification when it detects a relevant update.
Passwords is getting a security upgrade, too. Building on alerts for weak or compromised passwords, the app can now automatically fix eligible accounts with one tap by securely navigating websites and upgrading logins to strong passwords.
Shortcuts is becoming easier to use with Describe a Shortcut. Users can explain an automation in natural language, and Apple Intelligence assembles the required steps. They can also describe changes if the shortcut needs adjustments.
Apple Intelligence Makes Messages, Mail, Calendar, And Calls More Context-Aware
Apple is also putting AI into everyday communication.
Messages can now surface one-tap suggestions based on conversation context, such as creating a reminder or note. Mail suggestions are becoming more capable, including actions with third-party apps, while Smart Reply in Mail and Messages can reflect a user’s personal writing style.
A new Call Context feature in the Phone app can proactively show helpful information when users call a business. For example, while calling an airline, the Phone app can surface a confirmation code from Mail. Apple says this works by looking at who the user is calling, not what they are saying, and runs entirely on device.
Calendar also gains natural-language event creation, allowing users to describe an event while the app identifies contacts, locations, and a title.
Home And Accessibility Features Show Apple’s Broader AI Ambition
In the Home app, Apple Intelligence can group related accessory notifications into a single evolving activity. HomeKit Secure Video cameras also gain generated video descriptions, searchable camera clips, and highlighted noteworthy moments.
Accessibility updates are another major part of the rollout. VoiceOver can offer richer image descriptions, Live Recognition lets users ask questions about their surroundings, and Magnifier brings similar assistive exploration into a high-contrast interface. Voice Control also becomes more intuitive, allowing users to describe onscreen buttons and controls instead of memorizing exact labels.

Apple said the new features are available for testing through the Apple Developer Program now, with a public beta arriving next month through the Apple Beta Software Program.
