Anthropic To Triple Its Global Workforce As AI Set To Create 78 Million Roles

There’s no question that artificial intelligence (AI) technology, especially generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), is enhancing, revolutionizing, and overhauling business processes the world over.

Its automation capabilities have also made it a popular tool among businesses—albeit one that comes with concerns about job losses. This is one major reason why the next wave of professionals, particularly Gen Z aspirants, are looking to move to skilled labor jobs.

According to recent research carried out by LiveCareer UK, an online CV company, nearly a million jobs in London alone could be affected by AI. As such, 200,000 telemarketers, 150,000 bookkeepers, and over 95,000 data entry specialists could be changed, while others facing massive overhauls include fast food and warehouse workers, retail cashiers, paralegals, and proofreaders.

Even consultancy firm McKinsey backed this idea, noting a drop of 38% in advertisements for jobs impacted by AI mania, in comparison to what it was three years ago. Furthermore, research suggests that women are at higher risk than men, as they occupy more of such roles.

“Have an open conversation with your manager on what you can do to complement the change,” said Jasmine Escalera, an expert at LiveCareer.

However, this shift doesn’t mean that AI will definitely cut jobs and leave people unemployed.

In the words of Jensen Huang, the CEO of NVIDIA, a company that’s at the center of the GenAI revolution, said, “You’re not going to lose your job to an AI, but you’re going to lose your job to someone who uses AI.”

Backing this claim comes a report by the World Economic Forum that says AI is poised to add 78 million new jobs by 2030. The equation was based on a displacement of 92 million jobs in this time frame that would be offset by the generation of 170 million new jobs.

In its Future of Jobs Report 2025, WEF highlighted that some of the fastest-growing jobs would be found in technology, data, and AI, but also extend to core economy roles, including delivery drivers, care roles, educators and farmworkers. In this case, frontline roles and essential sectors such as care and education are set for the highest job growth by 2030.

However, it also noted that 63% of respondents from a survey of 1,000 companies cited that there remains a skill gap that acts as “the most significant barrier to business transformation,” especially considering nearly 40% of on-the-job skills are expected to change.

“If the global workforce were represented by a group of 100 people, 59 are projected to require reskilling or upskilling by 2030—11 of whom are unlikely to receive it; this translates to over 120 million workers at medium-term risk of redundancy,” reads an excerpt from the report.

Even business models are being reshaped by AI, which is why 77% of employers are planning to target new opportunities using AI by upskilling their workforce. On the other hand, 41% are looking to reduce their workforce in exchange for AI.


Amid all this, AI startup Anthropic announced major hiring news, as the company pushed to grow its global presence, with plans to triple its international workforce and grow its applied AI team 5x.

The move comes as the company found that around 80% of its consumer Claude usage comes from outside the United States, with South Korea, Australia, and Singapore acting as its major customers.

Its Claude AI model is popular globally, especially in the enterprise AI sector, where it stands with the top market share. Its global customer base also grew from below 1,000 business customers to more than 300,000 in just two years—representing an over 300x jump.

Anthropic’s popularity has seen its run-rate revenue grow from $87 million (2024 beginning), to more than $5 billion in August 2025. Even in its recent $13 billion Series F funding round, the company hit a $183 billion post-money valuation.

As such, the company revealed it was officially opening its first Asia office in Tokyo, Japan, as it plans an EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) expansion that spans the addition of more than 100 new roles across its Dublin, London, and Zurich offices, as well as adding more locations in the coming months.

To enhance this transition, Anthropic also announced the appointment of Chris Ciauri as Managing Director of International. Ciauri brings over 25 years of experience scaling enterprise technology businesses globally, having worked with Unily, Google Cloud, and Salesforce (growing its EMEA revenue from under $200 million to over $3 billion).

Ciauri will join the international leadership group led by Paul Smith, who was recently appointed as Anthropic’s first Chief Commercial Officer.
