Alibaba Releases Its Latest LLM As The Predecessor Attracts Over 90,000 Enterprises

Keeping to this thought, Alibaba Cloud, the digital technology and intelligence backbone of Alibaba Group, has come out with an announcement that’s set to strengthen its position in the GenAI market.

What Did Alibaba Announce?

As the demand for AI solutions further increases in China and around the world, Alibaba Cloud announced through a blog post that it has released the latest iteration of its proprietary large language model (LLM), Tongyi Qianwen 2.5 AKA Qwen2.5.

Qwen 2.5 comes with remarkable advancements in reasoning, code comprehension and textual understanding as compared to its predecessor, Qwen2.0, which was launched on October 31, 2023, building from the first version’s release in April 2023.

Since then, the company has witnessed over 90,000 enterprise deployments through Model Studio, its generative AI platform that was launched in June 2023, making the technology giant’s product one of the most sought after LLMs in China.

Additionally, more than 2.2 million corporate users sought Qwen-powered AI services from DingTalk, Alibaba’s intelligent collaboration workplace and application development platform.

Furthermore, its open-source model series saw more than 7 million downloads across platforms such as Hugging Face, Github and others.

These models consist of a range of models from 0.5 billion to 110 billion parameters.

Furthermore, China’s largest AI model community, ModelScope, which is led by Alibaba Cloud, currently possesses over 4,000 models and boasts a 5 million developer base.

Alibaba Cloud is also the pioneer of the Model-as-a-Service (MaaS) concept (since 2022), which comes with a full stack of services for developers to simplify AI model development and enable the creation of AI innovations.

Now, Alibaba Cloud also announced that it upgraded its Model Studio with new AI development resources.

At the same time, the company has launched a series of new open-source Qwen models.

Alibaba’s Qwen has even been adopted by some of the largest companies, to help develop their products.

As per the blog post, “Xiaomi, a leader in consumer electronics and smart manufacturing, has integrated Alibaba Cloud’s models into its AI assistant, Xiao Ai, fueling features such as image generation and comprehension across its latest smartphone range and the smart electric vehicle.”

Additionally, Perfect World Games, a Chinese gaming company, has integrated Alibaba Cloud's Qwen into game development.

Speaking at the event and through a subsequent blog post published on its website, Alibaba Cloud’s CTO, Jingren Zhou, said, “It’s been an exciting journey so far to witness the robust and growing momentum of our family of large language models Qwen, which is truly embraced by our enterprise customers and we have seen so many creative applications of the models from across the industries.”

“In the meantime, we have dedicated relentless efforts towards enhancing the capabilities of our models and enriching our suite of AI development services to enable even more innovative applications for our customers.”
