A few things we can be sure of: The sun will rise; water will be wet; and AI startups will receive funding.

Since the introduction of OpenAI’s ChatGPT in November 2022, the world of artificial intelligence (AI) and generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) has grown exponentially. It’s no wonder, too, considering the technology boosts productivity, streamlines operations, reduces costs, and conserves efforts.

As a result, investors are lining up to fund the next era of computing.

OpenAI

Leading the line is OpenAI, which enjoyed a successful funding round in October, where it raised $6.6 billion in funding, taking the company’s valuation to a $157 billion post-money valuation.

Here, participating companies included previous investors Thrive Capital, Khosla Ventures, and Microsoft, along with NVIDIA, Altimeter Capital, Fidelity, SoftBank, and MGX.

At the time, OpenAI reported that it had incurred losses of around $5 billion against a revenue of $3.7 billion.

Now, reports from The Wall Street Journal are emerging that OpenAI is in talks for another funding round that would see it raise a mammothian amount of $40 billion at a valuation of $340 billion.

According to WSJ, the round will be led by SoftBank, which is expected to invest between $15 billion to $25 billion.

The move comes amid concerns that AI companies may be overspending, owing to the release of China-based DeepSeek’s R1 AI model which was built faster than OpenAI’s latest o1 model, using less-powerful chips, and costing only $5.6 million. This is in contrast to the millions and billions of dollars spent by other AI companies.

However, there are aspersions cast over the validity of what DeepSeek claimed.

ElevenLabs

As per a blog post published on its website, audio AI startup ElevenLabs announced that it had raised $180 million in a Series C funding round, bringing its total funding to $281 million across four rounds since it was founded in 2022.

This took the company’s valuation to $3.3 billion, which tripled its valuation from a year before.

The investment will allow the company, which has generated over 1,000 years of audio content and had its tools adopted by employees at over 60% of Fortune 500 companies, to advance its AI audio technology, expand its research, and develop new products that make voice and sound central to digital interactions.

Over the years, ElevenLabs has added tools for speech generation, voice design, sound effects, and AI-powered dubbing in 32 languages, along with other solutions.

The round was co-led by a16z and ICONIQ Growth, with new investors NEA, World Innovation Lab (WiL), Valor, Endeavor Catalyst Fund, and Lunate. Existing investors Sequoia Capital, Salesforce Ventures, Smash Capital, SV Angel, NFDG, and BroadLight Capital also increased their support.

Ahead of this, the company will partner with strategic investors, which include Deutsche Telekom, LG Technology Ventures, HubSpot Ventures, NTT DOCOMO Ventures, and RingCentral Ventures.

Rad AI

Rad AI announced through a news release published on its website that it raised $60 million in a Series C funding round, taking the company’s valuation to $525 million.

It comes seven months after their $50 million Series B funding round. Add to that its current funding round, and the company has enjoyed a total investment of more than $140 million.

The new round was led by Transformation Capital, with participation from existing investors Khosla Ventures, World Innovation Lab, UP2398, Kickstart Fund, OCV Partners, Cone Health and others.

Rad AI is one of the fastest-growing healthcare AI companies in the world and is the first to successfully commercialize a GenAI product in healthcare.

The company’s GenAI features help radiologists save time, reduce fatigue, and prevent burnout by automatically generating draft report text in seconds, through its Rad AI Reporting tool.

“Radiologists play a vital role at the center of our healthcare system, enabling early diagnosis and prevention of illness,” said Vinay Shah, Partner at Transformation Capital.

“Rad AI’s generative AI solutions help radiologists and other healthcare providers tackle some of our industry’s greatest challenges by significantly improving provider efficiency, alleviating burnout, and advancing the quality of patient care. Customers love Rad AI and we are proud to partner with their team.”

SuperOps

In a blog post, SuperOps, an AI-powered managed service provider (MSP) startup, revealed that the company raised $25 million in a Series C funding round, which was led by March Capital with participation from our existing investors, Addition and Z47.

Founded in 2020, SuperOps was built as an AI-first platform, long before the rise of GenAI and OpenAI. In its tenure, SuperOps has helped thousands of MSPs (Managed Services Providers) optimize and grow their businesses.

The new round took the company’s total funding to $54.4 million and will allow the company to expand its global footprint while serving mid-market and enterprise customers more effectively.

It will also enable the company to increase its efforts in AI-powered IT management innovation, as well as make its platform more intuitive and efficient.

Talentium

Talentium, a Swedish AI-powered recruitment platform, announced that it secured €6.9 million ($7.16 million) in a funding round, taking its total raised funding to €10.5 million ($10.9 million).

This adds to the previous €3.5 million ($3.63 million) the company received in its pre-seed funding round, which was led by EQT Ventures. The new round saw new participation from Flat Capital and Ventures Together.

Talentium comes in with an AI-powered recruitment platform, built on years of expertise in recruitment, that helps recruiters by identifying candidates faster and more accurately.
