Adobe Launches New GenAI Capabilities Across Acrobat And Premiere Pro

In the ever-growing artificial intelligence (AI) and generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) industry, businesses of all kinds are trying to integrate the technology to provide their customers with the latest capabilities AI has to offer.

From the biggest tech conglomerates to the newest startups, no business or industry is safe from the AI revolution. Those looking to keep a strong position and a healthy market share are pushing hard to keep their products updated.

Keeping to this thought, Adobe has come with two new announcements that are set to enhance their Acrobat (PDF document manager) and Premiere Pro (video editing software application) products.

What Did Adobe Announce About Acrobat?

 

• Adobe’s Acrobat suite of applications is known around the world as the standard PDF (Portable Document Format) file manager. The application allows users to view, create, manipulate and print PDF files.

• This capability will be available for other formats, including Word, PowerPoint, meeting transcripts and others.

• Now, Adobe announced that it was making its Acrobat AI Assistant capabilities generally available to all its customers.

• The AI Assistant can be accessed by Acrobat and Reader users on desktops, web browsers and mobile devices (beta version) through an add-on subscription starting at $4.99 per month.

• The mobile version comes with a voice commands feature, enabling customers to use their voice to ask AI Assistant questions, summarize documents and more.

• The AI Assistant, which is a conversational engine, can help customers identify key information across documents and increase productivity through its features.

• Its features include the ability to chat with PDF and other documents by answering user questions and providing recommended questions based on the document’s content.

• Generative summaries provide short overviews, intelligent citations enable easy source verification, easy navigation help locate specific information quickly, shortlist top takeaways and text for emails, presentations, blogs, reports etc.

• The AI Assistant will adhere to data security protocols and not be used to train AI Assistants without consent.

• Abhigyan Modi, SVP of Adobe Document Cloud, said, “Whether it’s doing taxes, collaborating on contracts or creating and sharing research papers, Acrobat is the trusted platform for PDFs.”

What Did Adobe Announce About Premiere Pro?

 

• In another announcement made on the same day (April 15, 2024) as Adobe’s AI Assistant, Adobe unveiled it will bring new GenAI tools to Adobe Premiere Pro.

• “Today, Adobe previewed breakthrough generative AI innovations within Adobe Premiere Pro that will reimagine video creation and production workflows, delivering new creative possibilities that every pro editor needs to keep up with the high-speed pace of video production,” read the announcement.

• Expected to be introduced to Premiere Pro later in the year, the GenAI workflows are powered by a new video model for Firefly.

• Previews also showed the platform could be bringing third-party integrations enabling video editors to use video generation models from OpenAI and Runway, integrated in Premiere Pro, to generate B-roll to edit into their project.

• The tools will allow users to streamline their video editing workflows, including adding, removing or replacing objects in a scene and extending existing clips using the Generative Extend tool to add a few seconds to the end of a shot, which could be complemented with capabilities from Pika Labs.

• The tool will also come with text-to-video generation, allowing users to create entirely new footage through simple prompts directly within Premiere Pro.

• Ashley Still, SVP, Creative Product Group at Adobe, said, “Adobe is reimagining every step of video creation and production workflow to give creators new power and flexibility to realize their vision.”

• Adobe also announced the upcoming general availability of AI-powered audio workflows in Premiere Pro.

As per reports, Adobe is also buying videos and images from artists and photographers to further the progress of its text-to-video generator. The company is paying an average of $2.62 per minute for videos and 6 cents and 16 cents for each photo.
