Design and marketing product and service provider Adobe announced that it has launched Photoshop, Acrobat, and Adobe Express within OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

The move brings Adobe’s industry-leading creative and productivity apps to ChatGPT’s 800 million users.

It also builds upon its innovation in agentic AI, which easily allows users to conduct a wide range of tasks such as enhancing vacation photos, designing event invitations, and creating professional documents using text prompts.

“We’re thrilled to bring Photoshop, Adobe Express and Acrobat directly into ChatGPT, combining our creative innovations with the ease of ChatGPT to make creativity accessible for everyone,” said David Wadhwani, president, digital media, Adobe. “Now hundreds of millions of people can edit with Photoshop simply by using their own words, right inside a platform that’s already part of their day-to-day.”

Users can:

  • Use Photoshop to edit, uplevel, and add creative touches to images.

  • Use Acrobat to compress files and convert them to PDFs, edit PDFs, extract text or tables, and organize and merge multiple files.

  • Use Adobe Express to create, edit, and personalize designs, including filling in text, replacing images, and animating designs.

The move works well for users who aren’t familiar with Adobe’s tools but use ChatGPT.

To access its benefits, users need to type the name of the app, followed by what they want the app to do. For example: “Adobe Photoshop, help me blur the background of this image.”

Adobe’s apps for ChatGPT are free to ChatGPT users globally and are accessible on ChatGPT desktop, web, and iOS. Android users currently have access to Adobe Express, with support for Photoshop and Acrobat expected to come soon. It will require users to sign in to their Adobe IDs to connect to ChatGPT.

The announcement comes as Adobe reported record Q4 and FY2025 revenue, which included exceeding the target set for FY2025 digital media ending annual recurring revenue, and targets for FY2026 total Adobe ending annual recurring revenue to grow over 10%.

It also delivered record operating cash flows of over $10 billion in FY2025.

Its revenue in Q4 was $6.19 billion, representing a 10% year-on-year growth. Meanwhile, cash flows from operations were a record $3.16 billion. The quarter also saw Adobe repurchase around 7.2 million shares.

Adobe Chair and CEO, Shantanu Narayan, credited the company’s AI tools as a key contributor in the growth of its revenue, saying, “Adobe’s record FY2025 results reflect our growing importance in the global AI ecosystem and the rapid adoption of our AI-driven tools. By advancing our innovative generative and agentic platforms and expanding our customer base, we are excited to target double-digit ARR growth in FY2026.”

Late last month, Adobe also announced an expanded global partnership with soccer giant Real Madrid, which would include combining AI, creativity, and marketing to deliver enhanced AI-powered fan experiences for over 650 million Real Madrid fans (read madridistas around the globe.

Adobe will enable Real Madrid to scale content production and deliver deeper, more personalized experiences for fans using the AI capabilities of Adobe Experience Platform and Adobe GenStudio, including GenStudio for Performance Marketing and Firefly Services.

Adobe also conveyed that it entered a definitive agreement to acquire marketing platform powerhouse Semrush for $1.9 billion, in an all-cash deal at $12 a share that values Semrush well above its recent market cap of just over $1 billion.

It will bring Adobe Semrush’s capabilities, including managing brand visibility and audience reach through its data-driven generative engine optimization (GEO) and search engine optimization (SEO) solutions.

Do you think Adobe’s apps for ChatGPT will help it grow its user base outside OpenAI’s prized chatbot as well? Do you think it will inspire other creative and productivity companies to make similar moves?
