Connectivity upgrades now live for thousands of military families on base

AUGUSTA, Ga., March 27, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Military families living on Fort Eisenhower are now experiencing faster, more reliable internet thanks to the launch of Boldyn Networks' Fiber to the Home (FTTH) service. The first phase of this major infrastructure upgrade marks a key milestone in improving the quality of life for over 109,000 military personnel, families, civilians and contractors on base who rely on strong digital connectivity for work, education, and daily life.

Boldyn Networks (Boldyn), a leading neutral host and open access provider, has completed the installation of approximately 18.5 miles of fiber throughout the base. In partnership with Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), Balfour Beatty Communities, and E-community Fiber, who serves as the Internet Service Provider, the new fiber infrastructure is designed to support the demands of modern military life—serving all of the personnel who live and work at Fort Eisenhower.

"Reliable connectivity is essential for military readiness, and we're proud to deliver that with our fiber-optic network at Fort Eisenhower," said Christos Karmis, U.S. CEO of Boldyn Networks. "But this goes beyond readiness—it's about supporting the people behind the mission. Military families deserve internet that works just as hard as they do."

Fort Eisenhower is home to the U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence (CCoE), Signal and Cyber Regiments, and NSA Georgia—making reliable digital infrastructure critical not just for home life, but for training, cyber operations, medical care, and mobilization. The new fiber network adds an additional internet provider choice for base residents, improving redundancy and capacity across the installation.

"We're connected, whether it's our devices, our tv, connecting with family and friends across the world. So, getting updated to fiber to all the houses is going to be a tremendous uplift to the community. The community has been asking for this for some time now, so with AAFES and our private partners making this happen, bringing in team Boldyn—it's going to be awesome for the installation," said Sgt. Major Dan Durrette.

"The Exchange, in conjunction with Command at Fort Eisenhower, is proud to introduce the Fiber to the Home launch," said AAFES company representative. "This initiative expands service options for our soldiers, families, and retirees—supporting the mission while strengthening community connectivity."

This spring, families in the Lakeview Terrace, McNair Terrace, and Olive Terrace neighborhoods will be the first to experience the new fiber service, with four more neighborhoods set to come online by the end of the year—covering over 1,000 living units in total. Homes currently under construction in Pine Tree Terrace, led by Balfour Beatty Communities, are slated to receive FTTH connectivity in 2026.

Boldyn Networks brings deep experience to this project, having delivered critical infrastructure at more than 75 military installations across the U.S. Boldyn continues to partner with local governments and military leaders to deliver networks that meet today's demands and tomorrow's mission.
